Young Aussies who take on extra responsibilities caring for their loved ones will see a major cash boost to help them study in the May Budget. The government has promised an additional $10 million for Carers Australia to increase financial assistance to young carers so they can continue their education.

More than 81,000 unpaid carers could be due the cash boost on top of their monthly allowance from DWP. More than 81,000 people in receipt of Carer's Allowance received an additional payment of £245.70 in December 2022 as part of a unique benefit only available in Scotland.

Carer Supplement
