For those who do not know, let us tell you that Android save photos to SD card by default, no matter which Android phone you have in use.
You can automatically save your photos and videos to your Google Account when you turn on backup. You can access your saved photos and videos from any device you're signed into, but only you can find them unless you choose to share them. You can back up photos and videos to only one Google Account at a time.

On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Photos . At the bottom, tap Library Find the folder under Photos on device. If available, open your device folders to find your missing item. If you want your device folder items to appear in your Photos tab, you can back them up automatically.
What happens when you remove photos and videos from your phone. If you remove copies of photos and videos on your Android device, they're now deleted but you can still: See your photos and videos, including the ones that you've just removed, in the Google Photos app and photos.google.com.
Deleting photos on your phone can create more room in your camera roll. Having 5000 photos can take up to 10 GB of space. And having 10 minutes of videos can take up to 3.5 GB of space on your phone. That means you'll have less room for other apps that might help you stay connected and organized.
When you turn on backup, your photos are stored in photos.google.com.
For a physical backup, go with a secure external drive
If you want to store your photos physically, a secure external drive is a better choice. These devices tend to have higher storage capacity and faster speeds, plus they're harder to lose.
The shocking loss may happen irrespective of the kind of SD card you are using in Android, DSLR, tablets, or other devices. The SD card issue occurs without giving any warning of corruption or data loss. However, a blank SD card doesn?t mean that you have lost your photos permanently.
Memory cards and USB drives are NOT designed for long term storage. You should always backup your data on to another device. The data will normally stay valid for a period of up to 10 years if stored under normal conditions. The data cells inside carry a charge which can dissipate over time.
If you delete a photo or video that's backed up in Google Photos, it will stay in your trash for 60 days. If you delete an item from your Android 11 and up device without it being backed up, it will stay in your trash for 30 days.
Photos and videos older than 30 days can be deleted, but they'll still be backed up in your Google Photos library. Important: Before you delete your photos, make sure that they're backed up. Learn how to back up photos.
Moving it to the Recycle bin will also remove it from all synced devices and move it to the Recycle Bin in OneDrive." There is an option to 'Free up phone space', which is kind of what I want - it will delete photos on my phone, but also leave them on OneDrive.
Does a SIM card hold pictures? Photos aren't stored on your SIM card, which makes it important to back up your photos if you ever decide to switch your SIM card out. If you have an iPhone, consider saving them to iCloud, or if you have an Android, save them to your SD card.

Store your photos and videos in iCloud

When you delete photos and videos, they go to your Recently Deleted album for 30 days. After 30 days, they'll be permanently deleted.
If you organize a photo or video into an album, then delete it from Photos, it will delete everywhere, including that album. You can recover the photo in the Recently Deleted album for 30 days. If you have trouble with iCloud Photos or managing your photos, get help with iCloud Photos.
The key to solving the problem is that deleted photos continue to take up storage space on your phone until you really delete them.
