So, in instances of unhappiness (one of the conditions set for getting a second marriage) the man will have the right to re-marry. God has a condition also for this that the man has to get the consent of his first wife. Equally, a woman has the right to ask for divorce if she does approve the second marriage.
There is no discipline for second marriage in Islam without permission of first wife. The main condition for consent to wed again is that the spouse can give similarly to the two wives. The main spouse can't settle on separate.
It is not obligatory for the husband, if he wants to take a second wife, to have the consent of his first wife, but it is good manners and kindness to deal with her in such a manner that will minimize the hurt feelings such thing might produce.
