Powers and abilities. Beast Boy has the ability to morph and transform into any animal that he has seen himself or has seen in an illustration (as is the case when he shapeshifts into an animal such as an extinct dinosaur).
Beast Boy / Changeling (Gar Logan) can most typically shapeshift into any beast, meaning any non-sentient creature in the animal kingdom. As such, no, he couldn't become a sentient force of any kind. He does not need to have seen the animal before, just know of its existence. No, he cannot shapeshift into other people.
So far, however, his transformations have been limited to only a tiger, a snake and a bat.
His DNA completely changes when he transforms. He is only able to transform because he got infected with Sakutia (a rare African disease) and later cured, which made his DNA instable and allowed Garfield Logan to shapeshift.
Gar in his green tiger form Gar is able to manipulate his own DNA to form into anything, living or extinct, so long as it is comprised of DNA. It is hypothesized by Dr. Niles Caulder that this is done by unzipping his DNA and rearranging it, while the form of a tiger is psychological due to his love for them.
He has changed into multiple animals, such as a swarm of fireflies and a group of barnacles. The only problem is no matter what form he takes, the animal's skin and hair color will always be green. Beast Boy can also change into a hybrid, with all the animals' powers rolled into one.
In the comic books and animation, Beast Boy is usually shown to always be green. In the previous three seasons of Titans, Gar would only turn green when he was turning into an animal. Usually, he would turn into a green tiger. The next image shows concept art of the costume's hand tabs.
The Beast Boy of Titans looks like a normal guy with pale skin. True, he still sports green hair, but the rest of him has a regular pigment. The showrunners probably went in this direction for budget reasons. After all, it'd be expensive to keep him green all the time, whether it's through makeup or CGI.
After trying to hold together a ragtag band of Titans, once Robin returned, Beast Boy left the team to rejoin the Doom Patrol and aid his adoptive parents. Following attacks on various former Titans, it was determined that the sons of Trigon were trying to destroy the group to establish a name for themselves.
Lobdell decided that given that Gar has animal powers that his source of power being the Red makes sense, and he's not necessarily wrong. Thus, he figured if he was changing his origin so that he was connected to the Red, then there would be no explanation for him being green. Thus, they made him red.
Beast Boy was bitten by one of the monkeys and contracted a serious illness called Sakutia. To save him, his parents attempted to cure him with a new serum, which bestowed him with his shape-changing abilities. As a side effect, his skin, hair, and eyes turned green.
In one episode, Beast Boy claims that he cannot turn into any mythical creatures, yet in "Spice Game", he morphs into a dragon. In multiple promotional media, he is also shown to have transformed into various mythical creatures. To cite an example, he has morphed into a unicorn in the comic issue "Weirder Things".
With his royal blood, one of the most perilous attributes of Zeke's Beast Titan was the ability to turn Subjects of Ymir into Titans. If a person was given Zeke's spinal fluid, Zeke would then be able to transform him/her with a roar, much like the scream-based abilities of the Founding Titan and the Female Titan.
Beast Boy barely survived the events of Dark Crisis, suffering a brutal attack from Deathstroke and losing an eye in the process.
Teen Titans Go! S4 E47: As the Titans deal with Madame Rouge, Beast Boy is excited to meet his female counterpart known as Beast Girl.
When it comes to a fight between Beast Boy and Starfire, Beast Boy has the clear advantage from a durability standpoint. He can turn into so many different kinds of species and use these different variations of durability to outmaneuver Starfire, who is powerful but will tire over time.
The Brain is the leader of the Brotherhood of Evil and the main enemy of the Doom Patrol and later, the Teen Titans. He is also the arch nemesis of Beast Boy and the main antagonist of Season 5.
For the most part, Raven appears constantly annoyed by Beast Boy's immaturity, while Beast Boy is attracted to Raven and frequently flirts with her. However, it is later revealed that she has a secret crush on him. Their mutual romantic feelings for each other deepen as the series progresses.
We know Beast Boy was able to turn into a virus and split himself, so he can probably do the same thing with bacteria.
The two eventually grow very fond of each other, Raven feeling genuinely happier in his presence and Beast Boy harboring a great pride at being her husband. Their romantic feelings develop more slowly than others but over time they begin to truly live as man and wife.
Beast Boy is distressed by his big new battle scar, until Cyborg convinces him that the scar makes him look tough and manly.
Weaknesses. Beast Boy has the weaknesses of a normal human unless he's in an animal form, then he has the weakness of that animal.
The Red connects all living organisms within the universe, and certain characters are allowed to embrace its power. Beast Boy is one of the current avatars of The Red and Titans Season 4 appears to dive further into his abilities and where they come from.
Beast Boy was at least thirteen when he joined the Teen Titans but not more than fourteen. Going with the ten-year time scale since the founding of the New Teen Titans, that puts Beast Boy at around twenty-three, twenty-four at the oldest.
