In general, you can see the effects of Botox as early as 3 to 4 days after an injection. Dr. Oscar Trujillo, a facial plastic surgeon at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, says most patients will see results within 10 to 14 days but should wait the full 14 days to see the maximum results.
The first “true” results will be noticeable within 24 to 48 hours – when you'll see a softening of wrinkles. Why does Botox need a couple days to start working? Botox freezes your muscles by stopping the release of acetylcholine. It takes awhile for your body to “use up” the acetylcholine that's already circulating.
You haven't waited long enough for BOTOX to take full effect
While many patients notice fewer wrinkles in as little as 48 hours, it is normal to take up to 10 days for full effects to realize. In other words, you may need to be patient.
The results from Botox last anywhere between 2-6 months; the average result lasts about 3-4 months. Why does Botox eventually stop working? Your body makes new neurotransmitters all the time, so the “blocking” effect of Botox gradually wears off as these chemicals start circulating in your body again.
Botox stays only where injected, it does not roam through the body. "If I inject it in your face, it's not going to work [or show up in] your toe," says Rowe. "It does not have a systemic effect." However, it may migrate up to 3 cm from where it was injected.
A successful Botox treatment in the forehead should still result in the patient having some ability to move their forehead. However, remember that to prolong the lifespan of your Botox, try your best to minimize movement in the forehead for the next few months.
The most common reason that Botox does not work is that not enough was given. Botox is not a one size fits all treatment and the same dosage does not work for everyone. Some individuals may need additional Botox to reach an effective level of muscle weakness. The Botox may also be old, overdiluted, or fake.
It is a muscle-relaxer that temporarily restricts the movement of certain muscles to make forehead or brow lines, Crow's feet around the eyes, or creases around the mouth area less noticeable. However, BOTOX results are day by day, as it takes a few days to settle into place.
Patients should always avoid laying down on their faces after BOTOX.
Answer: Botox migration
The botox can migrate either at the time of injection or for a little while afterwards. The effect may only come on after days to 2 weeks later as the botox starts to work. The greater the volume injected the greater the risk of migration.
The short answer is; yes. The long answer is that the effects on wrinkles you see on your face, appear to be more effective the more frequently you get botox injections.
What to expect: 48 hours after the procedure you may still experience some mild swelling and bruising at the site of the injections. You are unlikely to see any results just yet. What to do: You can resume your regular exercise routine. You can now fly without the results of your Botox being affected.
After getting Botox, it's typical to have redness, tenderness, and swelling. These side effects usually disappear in 1 day. Bruising is also common. You can apply a pack of ice for relief.
BOTOX works by binding with neuroreceptors to forcibly relax or “freeze” the muscle. This process takes several days, with the majority of patients starting to notice their BOTOX results about 3 – 4 days after treatment. In some cases, it can take up to a full week for the full effects of BOTOX to be seen.
botox injected into the frowning muscles doesn't affect the frontalis muscle that helps raise the eyebrows. If you get treatment of this muscle on the forehead, if too high a dose is used you will not be able to raise your brow.
This feeling will fade and usually settles down after 3 to 5 weeks. It is perfectly normal after having wrinkle smoothing injections in your forehead, for your brow and eyelids to feel heavy. It is almost impossible to treat wrinkles in that area and not give that heavy brow feeling. Dr.
Once you get Botox, your muscle movement will be restricted. Rather than being a filler (which is what many people mistakenly think), Botox is actually a muscle-relaxer. To gain back your youthful appearance, Botox will stop your muscles from moving when you frown or are surprised!
“'Some telltale signs of 'Bad Botox' are asymmetry of facial movement, excessive brow elevation and unnatural brow shape, noticeable upper-eyelid hooding, a 'frozen' look, and some lines getting smoother and others looking exaggerated,” explains New York facial plastic surgeon Konstantin Vasyukevich, MD, who offers ...
The three most common reasons Botox does not work are: too few units applied, the dosage was not increased in follow up treatments, and Botox can treat only muscular movement lines not resting lines. The most common cause of ineffective Botox results is that you did not get enough.
In general, you should begin to see results between 24 and 72 hours, but some patients may not see full results for five days or more.
Don't lay down for the first 4 hours after having Botox
Both bending and laying down could spread the toxin and lead to bruising at the injection site. You can relax, but to be safe, avoid your bed as it's much too tempting to lay down and take a quick nap! Set a timer on your phone so you don't forget.
Answer: Botox Migration
The results start showing only after 7 days. So even if the Botox migrates to a wrong place, the results will start showing only after 4 -7 days. Botox is temporary and starts loosing its effect after 6 months. In some cases, it can even lose effect as early as 3-4 months.
More importantly, rubbing or massaging can cause the injected BOTOX to migrate to other parts of the face. Avoid lying down or bending over for several hours after the treatment to help prevent facial swelling and migration of the toxin. If possible, avoid lying down until bedtime.
