You should only downgrade your iPhone if you're looking to go back to a previous version of iOS. For example, if you're on iOS 16 but want to go back to using iOS 15.7. Note: You can only downgrade as long as Apple continues to sign the old version of iOS.
To downgrade your iPhone from iOS 16 to iOS 15, you basically need to erase your current phone and then restore it with the new operating system. In order not to lose any of the data on your iPhone, you'll need to have made a backup before you installed the iOS 16 beta.
Hold Shift key in Windows or the Alt/Option key in Mac and select the Check for Update option. In the dialog box, select the iOS 14 IPSW file. Click Update when prompted to update iPhone/ iPad to iOS 14. Your device is now downgraded from iOS 15 to iOS 14.
You can downgrade iOS to any version that Apple continues to sign. Apple typically stops signing previous versions about two weeks after a new release, so your downgrade option will be limited to the previous version only. If you jailbreak your iPhone, you may be able to install an older unsigned version of iOS.
Go to Settings > General > [Device name] Storage. Find the update in the list of apps. Tap the update, then tap Delete Update.
iOS 16 brought plenty of additions to the iPhone. Not only did it address a few long overdue requests, such as lock screen customization, but it also refreshed Apple's default apps with several handy features. These improvements come at a cost: iOS 16 can take a serious toll on your iPhone's battery life.

Remove and download the update again
If you still can't install the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, try downloading the update again: Go to Settings > General > [Device name] Storage. Find the update in the list of apps. Tap the update, then tap Delete Update.
Hi. Your phone will just update with the newest iOS software available for it. If something bad happens during the software update you will lost all your data ( medias, apps, contacts messages). That's why it's always recommended to backup your data first before updating.
Note: If you're on the latest iOS version, you won't find the option to delete the update. Additionally, the update can be deleted only if it's downloaded. Installing the update will remove the option to delete it.
If you plan to go straight to iOS 16, you don't need to download iOS 15.7 first. The bug fixes mentioned within the release notes are all contained within iOS 16 too. You can just hit the Upgrade to iOS 16 option that sits below iOS 15.7.
If you are planning on staying with iOS 15, you should be aware that iOS 16 is shown as an optional, alternative update in Software Update menu in the Settings app.
iOS 16 is available today as a free software update. The Lock Screen gets re-imagined, offering deeper personalisation. Now users can add a depth effect to their Lock Screen photo, artfully displaying the photo subject in front of the time, and they can even customise the font and type style.
