Don't touch your nose: Patients should take great care to avoid putting any pressure on their nose, including even touching the nose, for at least 1 – 2 weeks after surgery, or until Dr. Khorsandi advises that it is okay to do so.
Three weeks post-rhinoplasty, about 70 percent of swelling is gone. This is the time when a patient starts to recognize the changes and begins to appreciate the new shape of his or her nose. It's ok, actually quite normal, to feel a little self conscious at this time.
Answer: Picking nose after rhinoplasty
I usually recommend to my patients to use a q-tip gently after coming out of the shower for the first few weeks. Picking is not recommended and certainly blowing the nose is avoided to minimize bleeding.
The simple answer is no, laughing or smiling is not likely to ruin your rhinoplasty if you do it in moderation. However, if you laugh or smile too hard, it can put unnecessary strain on your incisions and cause them to open up. It's important to be mindful of this and take it easy for the first few weeks after surgery.
Answer: Rhinoplasty Surgery
I would recommend you to wail for 3 weeks after your surgery to have any type of treatment on your face or any mask.
Crooked nose tip after rhinoplasty
This is quite normal, particularly if different parts of your nose are healing at different rates. For example, swelling in the bridge of your nose may subside sooner than swelling in the tip of your nose, causing temporary crookedness.
After rhinoplasty surgery, your nose will be extra vulnerable as a result of the changes made to this structure. Your bones, cartilage, and surrounding tissues will be more fragile as they heal, sometimes for up to a year after surgery.
No nose picking and/or nose blowing for 14 days after surgery. Use nasal saline sprays (2-3 sprays in each nostril) at least three times daily to moisturize your nose for the first 2 weeks after surgery. You will be congested due to the swelling from surgery and will likely need to breathe through your mouth.
Try to avoid yawning widely for two weeks if at all possible. Crying after nose surgery is even more heavily discouraged than other facial movements, because when you cry strenuously, your nasal muscles shrink, and the result can be inflammation, which you want to avoid at all costs!
Rhinoplasty Recovery Rule #4: No Kissing!
And this goes for kissing babies, children, or even pets for six weeks after surgery.
Six weeks after your procedure, the cartilage and bones in your nose will be fully settled. At this time, there will be no restrictions on the exercise you can perform.
Months 6-12: Within a year, most people can see the final results of their rhinoplasty procedure. Any changes that take place during this time are usually quite subtle. Typically, the swelling has gone down, any repositioned cartilage has settled, and the reshaped skin has conformed to the new structure.
If your nose has been hit, place a cold compress on it immediately to reduce swelling. If there are signs that the nose has been broken, seek medical attention. A high impact blow to the nose can be a cause for concern, especially if there is extreme bruising, swelling, or a fracture.
The tip takes the longest time to heal and mold to the new framework because it's the thickest skin of the nose. If the tip of your nose is still very firm, it may mean that there is still some swelling.
Weeks 2-4: Major bruising will be gone, swelling and discoloration will continue to fade. After about a month, any obvious traces of your surgery should not be visible. After Week 4: You will begin to see the initial results of your surgery. However, your nose will still continue to subtly heal.
After about 6 weeks your nose will be roughly as strong as it was before the operation. The strength of the nose returns faster than the sensitivity subsides. So, even though the nose may be quite strong, it will still feel quite delicate and sensitive to the touch.
Use Q-Tip & Hydrogen Peroxide
Using a Q-Tip and hydrogen peroxide is a safe, effective way to clean and disinfect your nose and rhinoplasty incisions, but should only be done after any packing has been removed from your nose and face.
Additional dos and don'ts after rhinoplasty include: Don't touch your nose: Patients should take great care to avoid putting any pressure on their nose, including even touching the nose, for at least 1 – 2 weeks after surgery, or until Dr. Khorsandi advises that it is okay to do so.
Answer: Scrunched nose after rhinoplasty? Takes a year for final results. It's unlikely you negatively impacted your results. However, if you're concerned, I recommend following up with your surgeon.
Answer: Scrunching nose post rhinoplasty
It's unlikely this will damage your result from rhinoplasty. You should speak to your surgeon regarding the itchy skin. It should resolve but ensure you don't have an inflammation reaction to the splint or an infection.
Sneezing and coughing forcefully after rhinoplasty can cause a buildup of pressure in the nose, which could lead to bleeding. It's best not to sneeze or cough for 14 days following surgery.
In the first 6 weeks, the changes are noticeable on a day-to-day basis as the swelling goes down. By 6 weeks, 60-70% of the swelling has resolved. Patients can return to normal exercise (running, lifting weights, gym).
Taping can be effective to subside the swelling and shrink the skin down. It doesn't, however, affect the shape and form of the nose.
