Can snakes smell your blood? Yes they can. Snakes can smell most anything using their tongue to trap particles in the air and transferring them to an organ in their mouth.
But not all reptiles are a threat while menstruating. While it has been proven that snakes can detect menstruation, Breitweiser explained that overall, a reptile's ability to sense menstruation depends on their sense of smell.
It turns out that both cats and dogs are able to detect menstruation by odor and hormonal levels. Of course, they don't actually have any scientific concept of what's happening in your uterus, but they do know that something is going on.

No, snakes do not menstruate. That's something that only a very few placental mammals do (because those mammals build up a lining in their uterus and then shed it if they do not become pregnant).

Besides in primates, menstruation has been observed only in the spiny mouse [3], 3–5 species of bats [4–6], and the elephant shrews [7] (Figure 1).
In order to present a "food lure", an odor of insects, fish, or rodents would have to be present. In the case when a snake encounters a scent, the scent must be fresh in order to stimulate the snake's feeding response or curiosity. Snakes are not like blood hounds which can track an aging scent trail.
What scents do snakes dislike? There are many scents snakes don't like including smoke, cinnamon, cloves, onions, garlic, and lime. You can use oils or sprays containing these fragrances or grow plants featuring these scents.

When people are afraid, they tend to move more unpredictably, often with jerky motions. Your snake will certainly notice this kind of behavior.
If pads and tampons are your menstrual products of choice, you can definitely continue to use them camping and hiking.
Sharks may be able to detect blood, but being on your period won't cause a shark to attack. You can swim in the ocean on your period without worrying about sharks or leaks by wearing a tampon or a menstrual cup.
This is because those people are excreting a higher level of pheromones. So even when a dog is familiar with their owner, if that owner is menstruating or just had a baby, they are letting off a different smell and the dog wants to know why.
And what about during your period? Previous studies have shown that a woman's body odor is strongest during menstruation and that men who are particularly sensitive to smells can even detect this change in her scent.
The question whether menstruating women attract bears has not been completely answered (Byrd 1988). However, there is no evidence that bears are overly attracted to menstrual odors more than any other odor and there is no statistical evidence that known bear attacks have been related to menstruation (Byrd 1988).
However, some believe that dogs can smell the hormones associated with menstruation, and that this change in scent confuses or disturbs them. Others believe that dogs can sense when their owner is feeling stressed or emotional, and that the period-related hormonal changes amplify these feelings.
Some common examples include marigolds, lemongrass, and wormwood. Foxes and raccoons are common predators of snakes. Guinea hens, turkeys, pigs, and cats will also help keep snakes away. If foxes are indigenous to your area, fox urine is a very good natural repellent for snakes when spread around your property.
Research has shown that cinnamon oil, clove oil, and eugenol are effective snake repellents. Snakes will retreat when sprayed directly with these oils and will exit cargo or other confined spaces when these oils are introduced to the area.

"The truth is, snakes have a strong sense of smell, which they use to find accessible food sources," explains Sholom Rosenbloom, the owner of Rosenbloom Pest Control. "You can take advantage of this trait by using scents they dislike, such as cinnamon and clove oil.
Use Natural Predators
Snakes have a few natural predators that can help keep them away. Common snake predators include cats, raccoons, pigs, turkeys, guinea hens, and foxes. Keeping any of these animals around your home will help deter snakes from coming near.
Calcium cyanide is a good chemical for killing snakes taking refuge in burrows, while there are several gases that sometimes work in fumigating dens.
Some people try to sell predator urine, such as coyote or fox urine to get rid of snakes, but that doesn't work.
However, critical reviews of estrous synchrony studies in both humans and non-humans have found that synchrony has not been demonstrated convincingly, due to methodological artifacts and statistical problems. Studies of this phenomenon in animals living under naturalistic conditions are rare.
A shark's sense of smell is powerful – it allows them to find prey from hundreds of yards away. Menstrual blood in the water could be detected by a shark, just like any urine or other bodily fluids. However, there is no positive evidence that menstruation is a factor in shark bites.
