However, Star-Lord's true
Star-Power
In his new role, Peter can survive in space, fly faster than the speed of light, and generate a personal force field. His other abilities include being able to recover from injuries quickly, super human strength, and universal language translation.
When Ego was killed, Peter Quill lost his connection to the light that gave him powers presented in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Even the director, James Gunn, revealed in a now-deleted Tweet that Peter isn't getting those powers back.
Powers. Hybrid Physiology: Due to his heritage, he is part Celestial and part human, giving him superhuman abilities. Ego explained to him that as long as the Light of the Planet, which is Ego's essence, is alive, Peter Quill has celestial powers.
Portrayed by. Peter Jason Quill is a Celestial-Human hybrid who was abducted from Earth in 1988 by the Yondu Ravager Clan, and raised as one of their members, eventually building a reputation as the notorious intergalactic outlaw Star-Lord.
He is semi-immortal because he is capable of natural death. He only ages much more slowly than a regular human. In the MCU, Star-Lord was immortal until he killed his own Celestial father and cut himself off from Celestial power. He still has hybrid DNA but doesn't have all the extra things that go with it.
Technically, Peter Quill no longer has the traditional powers of a Celestial that Ego had.
Star-Lord did possess half the power needed to complete Ego's Expansion. But that power doesn't apply to combat, unlike Thor.
While you might be able to dispute this, he is certainly one of the most powerful beings in the universe. Armed with Mjolnir and Stormbreaker, Thor can summon lighting and take on just about any enemy. Star-Lord is certainly a formidable hero as well, but he is nowhere near the same level as Thor.
As Star-Lord, Peter Quill wears a suit that grants augmented strength and durability and the ability to travel through space. He uses an "Element Gun", a special meta-pistol capable of projecting one of the four elements (air, earth, fire and water).
Star-Lord has several insecurities and personal demons to contend with, including his feelings of inferiority around stronger, cooler men like the mighty Thor Odinson. This weakness was glaringly obvious in 2018's The Avengers: Infinity War, where Star-Lord immediately felt threatened by Thor when they met.
Galactus is not a Celestial. Both are considered space gods threatening to destroy the earth. Both are giants with unimaginable power and have very similar wardrobes in the comics. Although they have almost identical identities, appearances, and goals, they have a huge difference that sets them apart.
The ability to fly, plus super strength and durability, make Star-Lord physically superior to Captain America. And although Captain America garners more respect than any other character in the Marvel universe, that respect wouldn't help him at all against someone as powerful as Star-Lord.
Star-Lord's Mega Ability is Shield of Spartax. When used, an impenetrable shield surrounds him, providing protection from all attacks for a short time.
Sadly, one of Peter Quill's greatest foes turns out to be his own father, the Celestial known as Ego.
WEAKER: STAR-LORD
Instead, he relies on his human-level brute force and familiarity with a wide range of firearms in a fight. It doesn't help that, unlike Thanos, he isn't able to keep calm and maintain focus in a fight.
Star-Lord has successfully killed Thanos in the comics, however, it wasn't a big victory like one might think. After using the Cosmic Cube to incinerate Thanos while stuck in the Cancerverse, the Mad Titan immediately returned and made sure to dish out his own killer blow on the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
He was shown to depower Thor and cast spells such as the worthiness enchantment as well as break Loki's spell to regain his memories. Now Odin did tell Thor he was stronger then him (Odin) which some interpret as Odin meaning Thor is stronger than Odin cause Thor now has his fathers power plus his own.
Did Peter Quill lose his powers when ego dies? Yes, he lost them when Ego died, as his half non-human side was from Ego and resulted in him being able to borrow his powers. “If you kill me, you'll be JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!”
In fact, Thor owns a weapon that was created with the exact purpose of killing Celestials, and he used it effectively in the past. Jarnbjorn was forged for Rūna, one of the original Valkyrie by the Dwarven smiths of Nidavellir.
It should come as no surprise that, in a one-on-one battle of Zeus vs Thor, Zeus would easily triumph.
Strength: Star-Lord
But the statistics are clear. The MCU version of Star-Lord supposedly has a strength level of 50+ tons, while Gamora's strength level is "only" 454 kilograms.
As a half-human/half-Celestial, Quill was able to take hold of the stone without being immediately destroyed. From what we know of Infinity War, the story follows Thanos as he attempts to track down all six stones.
Thanos is an Eternal, this means that he belongs to a race of ancient and superpowered beings created by Celestials. Thanos is, however, different than all other Eternals due to carrying a mutation in his genetic code which manifested as the condition known as Deviant Syndrome.
If the average human lifespan is something like 70 years old, this means that Peter Quill could live anywhere from 115-140 years. In comic book reality, this can be extrapolated to near two hundred years, if they round up a few times.
