The average lip will require just 0.5 to 1 ml of filler to achieve both definition & volume. You are unlikely to require more than one syringe of dermal filler. In some cases, a little more filler may be used to achieve a more dramatic look, but it would rarely require more than 2ml (or 2 syringes) of filler.
Also, fillers can be built in layers to achieve results gradually; it is not necessary to it all at once. Typically we administer one to two syringes per visit, and achieving our clients' desired results typically takes one to two syringes for cheeks, one for lips, and one for jaw line corrections.
Based on how thin your lips are and how enhanced you want them to be, most patients will do well with 1-2 syringes of dermal filler to get the long term aesthetic goal that they want. 1 syringe has 1.0 cc of dermal filler, so most patients will look great after 1-2 cc of dermal filler.
Using Multiple Dermal Fillers at the Same Time
If you are looking to treat multiple different areas of your face during one dermal filler session, you can use Juvederm and other dermal fillers on different facial problem areas. Doing so is commonly referred to as getting a liquid facelift, and is a popular procedure.
In reality many of my patients looking for improvement of a specific area only need about 1-2ml on average. Most people are surprised at the difference just one syringe of filler can make to a problem area.
To give you an answer to "How much is too much?" for cheek fillers, our answer is: anything more than 2ml (1ml per cheek) in 1 session is too much. You can build up the amount of filler in your cheeks, but this has to be done gradually over several visits.
Cheek, Chin and Jawline Enhancement
Chin filler does not require a huge amount of filler, typically between 1-2ml depending on the effect you are looking for. Meanwhile, cheek and jawline filler can require a significant amount of filler, with some patients opting for anywhere 3-5ml in these areas.
The number of syringes of filler administered during each treatment will depend on your age and what you are trying to accomplish. One or two syringes are usually all that's needed to treat a single area, but some dermal filler patients may require 3 or 4.
On average patients get 1 full syringe during their first appointment. If they want more after that, they can do so after their lips have healed. We have several patients get 1 syringe in their lips and come back a week or two later to get a second syringe.
No, fillers are not typically expected to look better over time. Although the results of fillers are usually visible after the procedure, the effects will only usually last for several months to over a year.
Technically, you can inject filler in the 11's, but we do not recommend it.
Depending on the injection site and amount of dermal filler, most HA fillers last from 6 – 12 months on average. Regardless of which dermal filler you use, two or three syringes are almost always recommended in order to achieve the most gorgeous outcomes.
It's a common misconception that dermal filler is going to dramatically change your appearance with the very first treatment. In actual fact, 1ml of dermal filler is just enough to create a very subtle result that clients can then build upon over time (if that's your goal).
Again, the amount you need all comes down to how much volume you have lost and the results you're looking to achieve, but practitioners will generally use 1-3ml cheek filler per cheek.
Most commonly, just 1 syringe is used for augmenting the lips, regardless of the type of filler you use. Occasionally, we will build up to 2 or even 3 syringes in the lips for a patient, but this is usually an older patient who has lost some of the definition and structure in the lips, as well as volume.
How many ml using jawline fillers vary according to the chin and jawline structure of the patient. Jawline contouring generally requires 2-6 ml for woman, 3-8 ml for man. Therefore, patients who decide to do jawline fillers should know that at least 2 ml fillers should be applied for the desired results.
One syringe of filler you can expect slightly plumper lips with a smoother appearance. We use fillers like Restylane and Juvederm to create natural looking and feeling lips enhancement. Two syringes of dermal filler will get clients noticeably smoother and plumper and for some clients a true volume change.
Most fillers come in a syringe with 1mL of product. That is approximately 1/5th of a teaspoon. A small amount of product can go a long way, but many times optimal results require more than one syringe to obtain.
Traditionally cosmetic practitioners would inject 1mL of dermal filler into one area of the face. For example, 1mL lip filler and 1mL cheek filler, however, only 1ml of filler can enhance your entire face. Dermal filler is extremely hydrophilic, meaning it can dissolve or mix well with water.
4-5 syringes sounds like a lot, but is often required to get the kind of dramatic result some patients desire. And when applied expertly it looks completely natural.
Starting in our mid 30's we begin to lose approximately 1cc of volume in the facial area per year. Because of this, most patients require 1 syringe of filler per decade of life. So, for a full correction at 40 years old, you would need about 4 syringes.
Dermal fillers to the cheek typically last 8-18 months before the results of the treatment are no longer noticeable. Eventually, with time and as a result of other lifestyle factors, the product used in cheek injections will dissolve and metabolize into your skin tissue.
d) 2ml lip filler:
If you have genetically very small or invisible lips, this amount of lip filler can give you a glamorous pout. It is also used to enhance lips of average size; however, it can significantly imbalance your naturally full lips.
