Use a third-party secret messaging app. Viber, a secure messaging app that allows you to hide your chats and secure them with a PIN. Telegram, a chat app with password protection features that allow you to chat privately. Signal, a popular encrypted messaging app that includes a password protection feature.
Step 1: Navigate to Settings. Step 2: Go to Messages. Step 3: Select Notifications. Step 4: Tap Show Previews and then select Never.
Tap on Notifications. Tap on In-app notification settings. Toggle the switch next to Preview new messages so that it turns off. Doing this will disable all pop-up messages so that no one can see them.
If you only want to hide the content of text messages, open your Messaging app, and go to its Settings > Notifications > In-app Notification Settings. Look for the option Preview New Messages and toggle it off.
There are many mobile apps available that will allow you to send anonymous text messages. Some of the more popular ones are Burner, TextNow, and Mustache. Some are free, some come at a cost. There are also websites where you can send an anonymous text from your computer.
Archiving Android Messages
Messages allows you to archive conversations so that you can hide them from the home screen without having to delete them permanently. Tap and hold the conversation you want to hide. A list of icons will appear at the top of the screen. Tap the folder with a downward-pointing arrow.
Touch and hold the conversation, call, or voicemail you want to archive. Optional: To hide multiple items, touch and hold the first conversation, call, or voicemail then select more items.

Archive a Conversation
Overview: Archiving a conversation will allow for inbound and outbound SMS traffic to continue, but will remove the conversation from your “conversation” view until a message is either sent or received within that conversation.
The archive chat feature allows you to hide an individual or group chat from your chats list to better organize your conversations. Note: Archiving a chat doesn't delete the chat or back it up to your SD card.
On Android, long press on the group. Hit Exit Group on the next menu. Again, confirm your decision if the message tells you that only admins will be notified that you've left.
