Unfortunately, you cannot reactivate Starlink residential, and neither can you pause the service. If you cancel Starlink residential, you lose your subscription spot. And once you want to use it again, if the demand in your area is high, you may end up on the waitlist.
Starlink doesn't have any contracts, so you are free to cancel whenever you want. Starlink calculates your bill in monthly cycles, depending on when you first purchased service.
Mobile Service cannot be used on the ocean or in-motion without purchasing additional Mobile Priority Service data. Mobile Service can be paused and un-paused at any time.
Open Starlink app, go to setting, enable “Bypass mode”. Under bypass mode, Starlink router will disable wireless functionality, if you want to switch back to normal state, a factory reset is required.
Per Starlink's FAQ, it "enables users to temporarily move their Starlink to new locations in order to receive service anywhere within the same continent Starlink provides active coverage." Portability is not free, however. It comes at an additional $25 monthly fee (on top of the regular Starlink fee).
The Starlink rectangular dish and router can be factory reset by performing power cycles three times, and the mesh nodes can be factory reset by performing power cycles six times. The router of the circular Starlink dish connection has a dedicated reset button.
The primary disadvantage of Starlink is its high latency. This means that data takes longer to travel from the user to the satellite and back, resulting in slower connection speeds.
How many devices can Starlink handle at one time? As standard, Starlink can support up to 200 devices but with ClubWiFi's network technology this can be considerably increased to up to 8000 devices securely on a public network.
Starlink simply can't launch satellites fast enough to handle the amount of people that want Starlink. In the peak internet usage hours of the day, between 5pm-10pm, you may notice your speeds slow way down. This is caused by too many Starlink customers in your area trying to connect at the same time.
SpaceX's Starlink internet is a low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite internet provider from the mind of Elon Musk. Starlink internet offers unlimited data, above broadband speeds for most of its plans, and less latency than most satellite internet providers.
Portability mode allows customers to use their Starlink Residential dish outside of the registered service address. Portability was a highly requested feature for people with RV's or vacation homes. The ability to take your dish with you, and have internet anywhere, is a huge benefit with the Starlink internet service.
Can I Travel With Starlink? Yes, you can travel with your Starlink kit if you purchase Starlink RV, or purchase the Portability add-on with the Residential plan.
Your dish and router will reboot. At times, your dishy might even move as it reconnects to the nearest satellite above it (a similar movement might occur when rebooting through the app).
The old Wifi network name, password, and settings will be gone. You'll need to reconnect to the default Starlink Wifi name after the reset. The default Starlink Wifi name will be STINKY or STARLINK.
There's another element in Starlink's favor too. Customers who are unsatisfied with the service or the price increase can cancel without penalty. If they cancel within the first 30 days of service, they'll get a full refund of what they paid. If they cancel within the first year, they'll get a partial refund of $250.
Starlink has no limit on the number of devices you use, so the only limit is what your hardware can support. The Starlink app says that the Starlink router can support up to 128 devices.
The 1TB soft data cap is gone
The Standard Service Plan assigns an unlimited amount of “Standard” data each month to customers. Previously, an allotment of 1TB of 'Priority Access' data was given to Residential customers each month. After hitting that soft data cap, users were downgraded to 'Basic Data'.
With network priority, users can expect download speeds of up to 220 Mbps, upload up to 25 Mbps, and latency of 25-50 ms, enabling high throughput connectivity for offices of 20+ users, storefronts, and demanding workloads across the globe.
Network congestion is probably the most common issue when it comes to slow speeds from Starlink. Starlink, despite being the company responsible for launching and maintaining the most number of satellites orbiting the Earth, still has miles to go to support its users.
The newly launched Starlink V2 Mini satellites appear to be in trouble, Elon Musk confirmed yesterday. The SpaceX CEO said some units will likely have to be deorbited and destroyed in the Earth's atmosphere, while the remaining units stay in space for further testing.
The Starlink satellite network is designed to provide coverage all over the world, which means that rural businesses and educational institutions can access the internet even in remote areas.
Unplugging the AC power cord will turn off the router and the dish. When you plug it back in, Starlink will restart. It takes up to 15 minutes for the Starlink to come back online after plugging the router back in. Physically unplugging the router is my recommended method for troubleshooting connectivity problems.
A Starlink satellite has a lifespan of approximately five years and SpaceX eventually hopes to have as many as 42,000 satellites in this so-called megaconstellation. The current version of each Starlink satellite weighs approximately 573 lbs. (260 kilograms), according to Spaceflight Now.
You can have two dishy's (however you get them) and simply move the box back and forth.
