Never use ammonia-based glass cleaners, such as Windex, on your touch screen. The ammonia will destroy the screen membrane and cause permanent discoloration.
Either use wet wipes, or spray/dampen a cloth with water or gentle cleaner and be sure to squeeze any excess moisture off. Avoid using abrasive cloths, such as rags or paper towels, as they can spread lint and/or even damage the screen.
Using a microfiber cloth is the only safe way to clean your touch screen. Unlike paper towels, our gentle microfiber cloths clean the sensitive glass on your touch screen without scratching the surface. The microfiber attract and removes unwanted oils and dust, whereas other product simply spread them around.
Don't use anything other than a soft microfiber cloth to clean your phone. Don't use bleach, window cleaner, kitchen cleaners and other abrasive cleaners. Don't use undiluted dish soap, hand soap or vinegar. Don't use compressed air.
Using multi-surface or glass cleaning products is a big no-no. The chemicals in these products are too strong for your monitor. Even regular soap and water is too harsh of a solution for your computer screen.
Better if you spray the lens cleaner on a microfiber cloth and use the whetted cloth to clean the screen. Apple recommends against uing lens cleaning fluid because it will remove the oleophobic coating on the glass causing your fingerprints to show more.
Dry surface cleaning
Your Galaxy Book's screen and keyboard can be cleaned using a soft, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth. To avoid scratching the screen, a double-sided microfiber cloth is recommended.
Never use harsh chemicals, including Windex, anything with ammonia, or alcohol-based cleaners. If a liquid is necessary, you should only use a small amount of water on the cloth. While you can purchase special cleaning solutions (such as iKlenz, recommended by Apple) these are not necessary.
That being said, Forté says most Apple laptops and monitors — or any laptop with a glass-protected screen — can be wiped down with either Lysol or Clorox disinfecting wipes.
Using a circular motion can help remove stubborn smudges. Never spray alcohol or another liquid directly on your computer or laptop screen. Use another clean microfiber cloth with a small amount of 70%+ Isopropyl Alcohol or a 70%+ alcohol cleaning wipe. Wipe down your entire screen and be sure to get the edges.
The first, and most important, is that you don't want to clean a display using substances like isopropyl alcohol or Windex. Alcohol- and ammonia-based cleaners can damage your screen's anti-reflective coating. Using those substances repeatedly can lead to clouding and the coating becoming uneven.
Protect your screen
Do not use rubbing alcohol, paper towels, compressed air, dish soap or vinegar. All of these can damage your phone: Paper towels can scratch your screen, and vinegar could damage its coating. Do not use hand sanitizer on your phone screen, but do sanitize your hands before touching your phone.
First, the list of DON'Ts: Never use alcohol-based or vinegar-based cleaning products on your touch-screen devices. That means products like Windex, which is the go-to glass cleaner for most of us. The alcohol and other solvents in products like that can adversely affect your touch-screen.
Don't use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, abrasives, or cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide to clean the screen. WARNING: Never spray cleaner directly on the screen. It may drip inside the display and cause damage.
Important: Never use any type of window cleaner, soap, scouring powder, wax, or any cleanser with solvents such as alcohol, benzene, ammonia, or acetone. Never use abrasive pads or paper towels. If you do, you can scratch the screen or strip the anti-glare coating off the screen and cause permanent damage.
If you try to clean your TV screen with a baby wipe, it will leave behind streaks and cause tiny scratches. Instead, stick to water and a lint-free cloth.
Can you use eyeglass cleaner on your laptop screen? The anti-reflective coating on a screen is similar to that on anti-reflective eyeglasses and camera lenses. You can safely use the cleaner on all three, with a clean microfiber cloth.
Rubbing Alcohol Windex Alternative
(Rubbing alcohol is also a safe cleaning solution for stains and sticky messes.) Mix one cup distilled water, three tablespoons vinegar, and ¼ cup rubbing alcohol in a new spray bottle and label it. Shake up your glass cleaning solution and spray it on your glass.
An extremely effective degreaser, Windex can soften built-up grease throughout the kitchen, especially on hard-to-clean range hoods, fans, and light fixtures. Spray down the surface liberally, let stand for 10 minutes, and then wipe it up.
