Anakin ultimately fulfilled his role as the Chosen One and brought balance to the Force, fulfilling Qui-Gon Jinn's belief in the prophecy that foretold Anakin's destiny.
The Chosen One prophecy was about bringing balance to the Force…by killing Palpatine and destroying the Sith. Anakin did that when he threw Palpatine off the railing in Return of the Jedi, and died a few moments later, ending the line of the Sith.
This led to the Emperor Palpatine raining Force lightning down upon Luke “So be it, Jedi” – to which Vader then betrayed The Emperor by throwing him down the pit, killing him. This act is considered the moment when Vader brings balance to the Force.

Anakin would not have been able to be surpassed by Luke, Darth Vader lost a great deal of his force potential when he lost his arms and legs. Luke was (for the most part) an intact human and was the offspring of Anakin, giving him probably a bigger force potential than Vader.
Those negative emotions also power the dark side, meaning Anakin likely felt stronger as he killed the younglings. That, in turn, reinforced his belief that only the dark side could save Padmé.
The Jedi's hesitation to train Anakin Skywalker was deemed a mistake on their part, but The Mandalorian subtly justifies this decision. The Mandalorian secretly explains why Yoda and the Jedi High Council were skeptical of training Anakin Skywalker.
Vader held respect for Tarkin which is clearly shown and the only case in which Tarkin outranked Vader would be the case in which Vader was in the Death Star or within Tarkin's Oversector which he likely was as Tarkin was Grand Moff of the Outer Rim Oversector, the largest one.
Appealing to the hate and conflict within him, Darth Sidious goaded Luke into attacking. Vader defended the Emperor and he and Luke were locked in mortal combat. Luke lost control of his anger, viciously attacking Vader, finally beating him down and chopping off his hand with his lightsaber.
His suit followed an ancient Sith tradition, in which the warriors of the dark side of the Force would adorn themselves in heavy armor.
