Albert Einstein, arguably the greatest scientist of all time, is usually at the top of the list of famous dyslexics. According to LD lore Einstein failed to talk until the age of four, the result of a language disability. It is also claimed that Einstein could not read until the age of nine.
Einstein famously didn't start talking until he was 3 years old. Other famous late talkers include mathematical genius Ramanujan, a nobel prize winner (Gary Becker), a US talk show host (G. Gordon Liddy) and even Mussolini.
'Einstein didn't talk until he was four'
A notable example of a child who overcame early developmental problems is Albert Einstein, who suffered from speech difficulties as a young child. Other late-talking children who became highly-successful engineers, mathematicians, and scientists include the physicists Richard Feynman and Edward Teller.
The syndrome is named after mathematical and physicist genius Albert Einstein, who was a relatively late talker himself. Einstein's parents were so worried about his lag in speech that they consulted a doctor. Einstein's teachers reportedly said that he would not amount to anything due to his defiant behavior.
Some late talkers will start to catch up to their peers by the age of three, but some may continue to have difficulty with spoken language. There are many different causes of late talking, and it is often hard to pinpoint the exact cause.
A speech delay is an early indicator of ASD in young children, but it is NOT the only signifier. Every child is unique. It is often said “If you've met one individual with autism, you've met one individual with autism.” The opposite is often said for late talkers.
He didn't speak full sentences until he was 5 years old. Einstein's speech delay clearly wasn't an impediment to his intellectual prowess and awe-inspiring accomplishments. Thomas Sowell, an American economist, coined the concept of Einstein Syndrome.
“Einstein syndrome” is observed in children who experience delayed speech or language capabilities, while simultaneously demonstrating gifted abilities in other areas of development.
So, what is Albert Einstein's IQ? IQ test experts estimate his IQ was somewhere between 160 and 180, which is quite high. Some people estimate his IQ was just over 200, hovering around 205. However, 160-180 is the more commonly estimated range.
Late talkers typically appear to have good understanding of what is said to them, engage in appropriate, but often quiet play, and interact well with others using gestures.
Hereditary factors
We see no language problems when the child is between 18 months and three years old. They are latent" says Ystrøm. The researchers believe that both specific genes and factors in the child's external environment can lead to delays in language development at three to five years of age.
We know believing that is easier said than done, so we collected the following stories of famous celebrities who definitely never gave up, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Stephen King, and J.K. Rowling, for starters. All these folks are now household names, but they didn't become one easily.

1 – James Earl Jones' Darth Stutter
Embarrassed, Jones ceased speaking altogether until a high school teacher helped him overcome his silence and stutter. Understand how to become a professional, certified speech pathologist by learning more about the following online programs.
Factors contributing to speech development in a child can range from the immediate environment around them and their personality (some children are shy) to their gender, as boys are usually late talkers when compared to girls. Hence in most of the cases speech delay isn't associated with low intelligence.
A delay in speech or language is one of the earliest signs we have for kids that do go on to get a diagnosis of ADHD later in childhood. In this 2012 study, researchers found that two-thirds of the elementary-aged kids with ADHD had a speech or language delay at 18 months.
He had a poor memory, unable to remember names. It's said that he couldn't remember his own phone number. Despite these apparent deficiencies, the mind of Einstein was in full swing.
Some children with autism may start talking at 12-16 months. Most don't start talking until later. Some will start talking between the ages of 2-3 years. Other children talk even later, and some children never learn to talk.
Researchers published the hopeful findings that, even after age 4, many nonverbal children with autism eventually develop language.
Researchers have yet to agree upon an explanation for this specific delay. They have determined, though, that Late Talkers are more likely to have a family history of early language delay, to be male, and to have been born at less than 85% of their optimal birth weight or at less than 37 weeks gestation [1].
To sum-up, although speech delay can come hand-in-hand with autism spectrum disorder, it is not always the case. A speech delay by itself does not mean a child has autism and, by working with experts and doing the right research, you can ensure your child gets the best support.
Speech/Language Milestones
Boys tend to develop language skills a little later than girls, but in general, kids may be labeled "late-talking children" if they speak less than 10 words by the age of 18 to 20 months, or fewer than 50 words by 21 to 30 months of age.
