Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky are still going strong after over a decade of marriage.
The Dutton family's story continued with more unexpected twists and turns in the latest episode of 1883 on Paramount+.
In a stunning twist, Elsa decides that she will not make the rest of the journey to Oregon, opting to stay with Sam, marry him and make a life together. It's a decision that garners a great deal of pushback from James and especially Margaret (Faith Hill), who is not ready to relinquish control over her daughter yet.

The site reports, “We're told it's definitely happening and again, the intention is for Elsa to have a girlfriend in the prequel, confirming her sexuality in the process.”
While that might just be a detail for ... However, despite getting the parents' approval, Sam and Elsa do not marry, at least not in a traditional sense. During her conversation with Margaret, Elsa states that she believes God has sent Sam into her life, and she already considers him a husband.
The Yellowstone prequel never clarified whether Elsa (Isabel May) and Ennis (Eric Nelsen) consummating their relationship in 1883 season 1, episode 5 “The Fangs of Freedom" resulted in Elsa getting pregnant.
Along the trail, she fell in love with a cowboy, Ennis, and the two planned to marry before Ennis was shot by a group of bandits. Later, Elsa became entangled with Sam, a Comanche warrior who saved her life on the trail.

Kristoff. A rugged mountain man and ice harvester by trade, Kristoff was a bit of a loner with his reindeer pal, Sven, until he met Anna.
Elsa was also planning to split from the group to stay with Sam, but after many goodbyes, everyone decided they were going to Oregon anyway. Even Elsa decided to leave her boyfriend so she could find out where Oregon was, while planning to return to the plains in June to reunite with him.

The caravan was heading toward Oregon, but the Dutton family had to settle in Montana after the death of their daughter, Elsa (Isabel May). Elsa was the main narrator of 1883 and appeared via voiceover in the first episode of 1923 as well.
She is believed to be either 17 or 18 years old. Elsa stated that her birthday was April 9, one year after the surrender at Appomattox (which would be 1866).
Indeed, as there are no condoms or any other reliable form of birth control in the frontier, there's a real possibility that Ennis really did impregnate Elsa. Sadly, before 1883 could even drop any clues that Elsa was pregnant, Ennis died in the next episode while Elsa died during the finale.
Ennis and James's daughter Elsa were first introduced on the journey and took a liking to each other. The two sparked a romance and had promised themselves to one another. In episode five, they consummated their relationship and planned their future together.
Margaret Dutton
She served as a nurse in the Civil War in which James fought in. She was the mother to three children (whom we meet in 1883), Elsa, John, and Spencer.

The two then ride off where Sam tells Elsa that he chose his name after a man named Sam killed his wife; he wanted to take the man's name after taking the man's life. (Sam killed Sam.) Sam gives Elsa a nickname, “Lightning Yellow Hair.”
Sam and Elsa did get their happily ever after, at least in Elsa's afterlife — the joys surround her that she didn't get enough of in this life, and she'll be met by her loved ones when their time comes.
