After the demise of Sauron, Éowyn and Faramir marry and settle in Ithilien, of which Faramir is made the ruling Prince by Aragorn. Faramir and Éowyn have a son, Elboron.
Eowyn is a shieldmaiden of Rohan, and Faramir is a royalty, too, and he is made Prince of Ithilien by Aragorn. Having Eowyn and Faramir be together makes sense given that Gondor and Rohan are allies, and so it's a smart marriage in this sense.
He was already in love with Arwen, so there was no room in his heart to love Eowyn or any other woman.
And after the funeral for King Theoden, Faramir and Éowyn became married. They settled for the remainder of their lives in the quiet area of Emyn Arnen, south of Gondor, and had a son named Elboron. He would later go on to succeed his father, who passed away 82 years after the war had ended.
Eowyn was left to lead the nation in his stead, as she was brave and beloved by the people. She led the people of Edoras to the White Mountains, where they took shelter. She stayed with them (albeit reluctantly) while the men fought in the Battle of Helms Deep.
Éowyn passes out from the pain in her arm, and is believed dead until Prince Imrahil realizes she still lives. Éowyn is brought to the Houses of Healing, hovering near death from the effects of having struck the Nazgûl.
When Aragorn leads his company away from Edoras towards the Dwimorberg, the haunted mountain, and the Paths of the Dead, he leaves Éowyn behind him, his last words to her nothing more than, “Nay, lady”.
Elrond confronts Aragorn in The Return of the King and says that Arwen is dying, her fate tied to the Ring. Arwen isn't necessarily dying because of the Ring, but now that she is mortal, she is dying through the slow decaying of time.
One year after Aragorn's death, Arwen dies at the age of 2,901.
It is later mentioned that Tauriel is a talented warrior and was therefore made leader of the Mirkwood border guards. Legolas, the son of Mirkwood's Elven king Thranduil, is indicated to be attracted to her, but as she is a lowly Silvan Elf, she does not believe herself worthy of him.
Aragorn then tended to Éowyn and Merry, who both returned to consciousness when Aragorn touched and kissed them. All through the night, Aragorn healed the wounded of the city. Rumours flew throughout the city that the King of Gondor now walked again, bringing healing in his hands.
'Lord of the Rings': Uma Thurman Turned Down Eowyn Role [VIDEO] - Variety.
The body of Théoden the Renowned remained in the Hallows of Minas Tirith while Snowmane was buried where they fell. His nephew Éomer succeeded him as King of Rohan.
Eowyn is approximately 24 years old when she is introduced in The Lord of the Rings. She survives the War of the Ring and marries Faramir of Gondor.
Denethor Thought Faramir Was Too Close to Gandalf
Gandalf planned to overthrow his rule and place Aragorn on Gondor's throne. Therefore, the steward despised the Wizard. Faramir was actually close to Gandalf, which was unacceptable to Denethor.
Theoden adopted Eowyn and her brother after they were orphaned, so Eowyn and Theodred were raised together as siblings. Therefore, it's unlikely that either of them would ever seek a romantic relationship together, or that Theoden would encourage it.
Dernhelm throws back his hood and reveals to the Nazgûl that he is in fact Éowyn, the Lady of Rohan, in disguise. The winged steed strikes at Éowyn, but she deals it a fatal wound. The Black Captain leaps off his dead mount and shatters Éowyn's shield with a blow from his club, breaking her arm.
Éomer is the current King of Rohan after the death of his uncle, Théoden. He is also the brother of Éowyn and son of Éomund and Théodwyn, and a grandson of Thengol. Éomer was banished from his kingdom and later led those who were loyal to the King but not to Wormtongue.
However, he does not possess the ability to live forever, and he cannot choose to be mortal or immortal like Arwen, the half-Elf he loves and eventually claims as his wife. Because Aragorn is mortal and Arwen chose to remain in Gondor and become mortal, their son, Eldarion, is mortal as well, despite his Elven lineage.
Arwen didn't want Aragorn to die, because if he died so would she. She said she wasn't tired of living yet. But instead, Aragorn chose to die and Arwen lived a year longer before dying herself.
The Gift of an Arwen Evenstar Necklace
Princess Arwen Evenstar gave her beautiful necklace to Aragon to pledge her eternal love to him. This special gift from an immortal elf to a mortal man symbolized Arwen's decision to forsake her immortality to be with the person she truly loves.
Her constitution already severely weakened by loneliness and despair, combined with physical injuries, Éowyn then succumbed to the Black Breath. Théoden, not knowing that she was nearby, told Merry with his dying words that she had been "dearer than daughter" to him.
Eowyn Was To Be Middle-earth's Queen
With this idea of her being a princess, it works better with the concept of her marrying Aragorn. Their relationship could've symbolized a partnership between Rohan and Gondor after the war, as was traditional for real-life royalty centuries ago.
This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!” – Aragorn.
