He came to recruit the Padawan for another ritual, one that would finally reveal the answers they seek. Begrudgingly, the boy and his friends went with Maul to Dathomir, where Nightsister magick gifted them the knowledge that Obi-Wan Kenobi was alive, and he was on Tatooine. Finally, Maul was close to his revenge.
Through a second ritual on the planet of Dathomir, Maul discovered that Obi-Wan Kenobi was alive and was hiding on the planet of Tatooine. Maul nearly had his revenge when he came to Tatooine in search of Kenobi. Through manipulating Bridger, Maul was able to draw Kenobi out for one final duel.
Darth Maul isn't going to appear in Obi-Wan's Disney+ show, which leaves a big question of where is Maul during Obi-Wan Kenobi. The two Star Wars characters have had their stories tied together ever since Obi-Wan cut Maul in half during Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.
When he dies in Rebels you see Obi-wan holding the dying body of Maul. This is supposed to represent that he's gone beyond hatred or anger towards Maul, and instead feel pity that it had to end this way.
During his final moments, Obi-Wan held Maul in his arms, comforting him by explaining that Luke was the chosen one and that he would avenge them both. Obi-Wan then gave Maul a burial, actually forgiving Maul in spite of everything Maul did to him and the people he loved.
“Is it the chosen one?” Obi-Wan responds, “He is.” And Maul's last words are true to his lowly character, “He will avenge us.” To his last breath, Maul held onto anger.
So, assuming the fight was over, he may have dropped his guard. Because of this, he couldn't sense that Obi-Wan was planning to jump behind him, and it ended up costing him the fight. However, another explanation for how Obi-Wan managed to beat Maul is that he actually tapped into the dark side during his fight.
Darth Maul died during a final battle with Obi-Wan in the Rebels TV series, and Palpatine couldn't have cared less. For him, finding and killing Maul for his failure simply wasn't worth the effort.
that obi wan did indeed bury darth maul's body. somewhere out in the tatooine desert.
Visions of Obi-Wan. The comic opens during the last moments of Revenge of the Sith, recreating the well-memed instance when a despondent, freshly-armored Vader cries out with a drawling “nooooooo” over how much he's lost.
Darth Maul and Darth Vader never met in the Star Wars canon, although Maul and Anakin Skywalker were heavily involved in key events of the Clone Wars. That includes the Siege of Mandalore, in which Anakin would have participated had it not been for the Chancellor's kidnapping.
Obi-Wan was understandably part of Maul's hit list given how close the Jedi came to killing him during their initial encounter. Because of this, it made sense that Maul was bent on locating his rival for another confrontation, which was the general idea implied as he tracked Obi-Wan down in Rebels.
The series reveals that Darth Maul is still alive and building up his own crime syndicate, including taking over the planet Mandalore for a time.
If Maul knew, he would have tole Obi Wan or another Jedi during the Clone Wars. Dooku knew Palpatine was Sidious as he told Obi-Wan about him controlling the senate and referred to him as the dark lord. There's no real way of actually knowing if he knew ab palpatine.
He didn't think Obi Wan had the skill or the bravery to make that move. Because he underestimated Obi Wan he didn't see the move coming. Maul was so stunned by it that he didn't swing. The move only worked because it was a surprise.
Maul was three years younger than his rival Obi-Wan, who was 55 years old when he killed the former Sith Lord at the tail-end of the Empire's rule.
Eager to put his years of training to use, Darth Maul met with his master, Darth Sidious, to plan his assault on the Jedi who were escorting the escaped Queen.
The comic reveals that Obi-Wan's astoundingly-fast defeat of Darth Maul was not simply out of a desire to protect Luke Skywalker (who was living nearby). Kenobi felt Maul's palpable fear even before the two clashed swords, and the speed at which he made short work of the Sith Lord was a mercy, not a vengeful tactic.
Thought dead, Darth Maul survived his injuries by focusing on his hatred of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi who cut him in half. His shattered body was dumped amid the refuse of the junk planet Lotho Minor, where the once deadly warrior fell into madness, staying alive on a diet of vermin.
However, Maul's hatred of the Jedi was more personal. He was filled with anger when he realized that as a child, the Jedi had not come for him. Maul did not know if they found him unworthy or simply ignored him, and their neglect fueled his rage, counting the days until he could have his revenge.
Later stripped of his black Nightbrother markings, Maul was left solely red-skinned. Agonizing Sith tattoos were applied personally by Darth Sidious in an attempt to cleanse Maul's mind as well as demonstrating Maul's complete dedication to the dark side.
The rule has always been that there are only two — a master and and apprentice — nothing more. For that, and a few other reasons, Maul set out for revenge against the Sith, and became the leader of his own crime syndicates. It also officially removed the 'Darth' from his name, making him just 'Maul.
Who hated Obi-Wan Kenobi more, Darth Vader or Darth Maul? Maul hated Obi Wan more than Vader. Maul literally lived just based on his anger for Obi Wan.
Part 1. In the aftermath of the events of "The Lawless," Darth Maul has been captured by Darth Sidious, his former master, and imprisoned in the Spire, a Separatist prison on Stygeon Prime.
George Lucas himself has stated that Anakin is the Chosen One and that the prophecy is true, although it had been misinterpreted by the entire Jedi Order. Lucas believes that both the dark side—greed— and the light side—compassion—are integral parts of human beings.
