During the fight in Boston, Mothra defeats Rodan and is disintegrated by King Ghidorah while protecting a fallen Godzilla. Her power is transferred to Godzilla as a result via her ashes, preventing him from suffering a nuclear meltdown and allowing him to defeat Ghidorah by achieving his burning form.
Upon being vaporized by Ghidorah, the radioactive cloud which remained of Mothra's body empowered the overloaded Godzilla, allowing him to unlock his Burning Godzilla form which emits smelting heat and releases a series of all-destroying thermonuclear pulses.
During the final battle in Boston against King Ghidorah, Mothra showed protectiveness toward Godzilla, shielding his injured body with her wings and taking the full force of Ghidorah's gravity beams, ultimately giving Godzilla the power needed to kill him.
In 'Godzilla: King of the Monster,' the monster takes the form of Mothra. In the battle between Ghidorah and Godzilla, Mothra sacrifices herself in order to protect the legendary creature. When she dies, she gains a sense of intelligence and compassion.
Although Mothra does not survive the final showdown between Godzilla and Ghidorah, fans know there's no need to worry: Mothra always leaves an egg behind. In fact, one of the headlines shown during the end credits is about a mysterious egg discovered by Monarch.
Mothra fought to protect her egg against Godzilla, dying to save it. To save humanity, two Mothra larvae hatched to defeat Godzilla. This was repeated in Godzilla vs Mothra, GMK, and Tokyo SOS, all where Godzilla is a villain while Mothra is trying to save humanity.
It's probably a combination of grief and rage; we've seen Godzilla like this before, the most dramatic example being when Destroyer killed his son. His mannerisms for the rest of the scene are pure anger; he's going to tear Ghidorah apart and he's going to enjoy it.
Battra (バトラ Batora) is a dark divine moth kaiju who first appeared in the 1992 Toho Godzilla film Godzilla vs. Mothra. A dark counterpart of Mothra, Battra was created by the Earth itself 12,000 years ago after an ancient civilization created a climate-controlling device.
Mothra's eye-spots on her wings were designed to resemble Godzilla's eyes in order to create a connection between the two monsters. Michael Dougherty said 'she is his flag bearer and Queen. '
Telepathy: Mothra is capable of using telepathy as she and Godzilla are able to communicate with each other due to their symbiotic relationship. Immortality: Mothra is effectively immortal as she has the ability to asexually lay an egg from which a new specimen will be reborn.
Dougherty has stated when Mothra dies, her memories are passed down genetically to her offspring [via Twitter]. So in a sense, the larvae that hatches from the next egg will become the Mothra, rather than a new version. She'll have all the memories of all the past incarnations of herself.
She is a Divine Moth Kaiju and is married to Rodan. The love triangle between her, Rodan, and King Ghidorah, as well as her relationship with Ghidorah as a whole set off the show's story.
Battra, a male divine moth similar to Mothra, but much more fearsome in appearance, destroyed the civilisation and their weather-controlling device but then became uncontrollable, and started to harm the very planet that created him.
While it may seem difficult to fathom a giant moth battling other kaiju, Mothra is a worthy opponent to even the strongest monsters like King Ghidorah. Mothra can deflect attacks through her wing scales, causing catastrophic or even fatal results for the person/beast who launched the original assault.
History. Mothra is a descendant of the Kaiju of Earth, Gigamoth, along with her brother Battra. Having hatched from same egg, both siblings carried a strong bond between each other and acted as the respected guardians, Mothra being the Guardian of Mortals, and Battra as the Guardian of Terra.
In this series Mothra battled three opponents: Death Ghidorah, a flora-destroying horned beast with three heads; Dagahra, a toxic dragon-like sea creature; and finally Cretaceous King Ghidorah/Grand King Ghidorah, who comes back to Earth to feed of the life force of Japan's children.
Perhaps most distinct are this Godzilla's white pupil-less eyes, which are meant to give him the appearance of being undead and otherworldly. This Godzilla has very large white claws on his hands and feet. His feet and legs are relatively large compared to the rest of his body.
The markings on her wings are said to mark her as the "Queen of the Monsters" and that they apparently link Mothra to Godzilla, the King of the Monsters, since the eye spots on her wings are modeled after Godzilla's eyes.
Mothra returned in Mothra vs. Godzilla, where she traveled to Japan to battle Godzilla when he threatened her unhatched egg that had washed ashore there. Mothra was killed in the battle, but two twin larvae hatched from her egg and carried on her battle against Godzilla, eventually triumphing over him.
The Shobijin (小美人 Shobijin, lit. "Small beauties") are tiny twin priestesses of Mothra who first appeared in the 1961 film, Mothra. They have been featured in nearly all of the character's film appearances since, as well as in several comics and video games.
While many of the kaiju tend to be aggressors, attacking cities and other beasts without provocation, Mothra is seen as a benevolent behemoth, a force for good.
Mothra (モスラ Mosura?), also dubbed Titanus Mosura, is a giant lepidopteran daikaiju created by Legendary Pictures that first appeared in the 2019 film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
If Mothra didn't sacrifice herself in KOTM then one Godzilla definitely would've been killed including the whole planet by King Ghidorah and two Godzilla wouldn't of became his burning form in order to kill King Ghidorah to save the planet.
In most of her appearances she usually has trouble dealing damage & lasting long in a fight. This is due to being either old (1961, 1964, 2003) or she was purposely weakened for a movie (2001s' GMK), or she was weakened from laying an egg (1964, 2003).
Within the movie Godzilla was struggling with Ghidorah and at the point where Mothra decided to sacrifice herself she knew Godzilla was not be able to get the job done without her help. Also there was a fear that Godzilla was going to lose the fight and possibly die at the hands of Ghidorah.
