Narcissa's greatest moment, however, was when she chose to betray Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Not knowing whether Draco was alive or dead, Narcissa chose to lie to the Dark Lord rather than risk losing her son.
Why? The main reason is that Lucius failed to retrieve the prophecy from the Ministry of Magic, put that on top of all the other times Lucius failed, and it leads to him losing any clout he once carried within the Death Eaters.
Why did Narcissa Malfoy lie to Voldemort and say Harry Potter was dead when she knew he wasn't? Because she knew that letting Voldemort think Harry was dead and marching triumphantly into Hogwarts was the only shot she had at finding her son. And at that point, that is the only thing that matters to her.
Despite a near lifelong allegiance to Lord Voldemort as a Death Eater, Lucius Malfoy did ultimately abandon them at the Battle of Hogwarts. He had selfish reasons for doing so, and that decision played into the consequences he faced after the war ended and the Dark Lord was defeated.
As a result, Voldemort became increasingly dismissive of Lucius and his entire family, resulting in the Battle of Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, in which the Malfoys finally abandoned their Dark Lord allegiance and defected to the good side.
The Malfoys are able to avoid serving time in Azkaban, as they provide evidence that helps the Ministry track down the Death Eaters who had fled after the war. It is also probable that, since Narcissa's lie to Voldemort saved Harry's life, the family is pardoned for their crimes.

Draco Malfoy's mother Narcissa was cold, cunning and devoted to the Dark Lord. But she was also a mother, which meant she was willing to risk everything to make sure her son was safe. When Harry survived Voldemort's Killing Curse for the second time, Narcissa pretended he was dead so she could get to Draco.
Because he and his family defected from the Death Eaters they were pardoned for their crimes after Voldemort's final defeat and did not serve a stint in Azkaban. He and Narcissa later had a grandson, Scorpius Malfoy, after Draco married Astoria Greengrass.
Voldemort borrows Lucius's wand, which is accidentally destroyed by Harry Potter. Later in the book, Lucius, along with his wife and sister-in-law, accidentally allow Harry and his friends to escape from Malfoy Manor. Voldemort punishes them severely, eventually putting them under house arrest.
At the beginning of this book, he measures it against Lucius Malfoy's showing he still has it and it is intact. Dumbledore explains to Harry in book 4 that since both wands contained a tail feather from Fawkes the phoenix, the couldn't face each other as they'd refuse to destroy each other pretty much.
Draco's refusal to reveal Harry's identity to Bellatrix was not because he liked him. It was because he believed that Harry was the only chance they had at defeating Voldemort. At first, Draco admired and revered Voldemort until he threatened his family's safety.
In fact, Lucius' own support to Voldemort is revealed to come only under some form of duress, which is likely Narcissa's Veela Allure. When Lucius turns on Voldemort due to the reveal of his Horcruxes, Narcissa divorces him, taking 75% of Malfoy's wealth with her.
The plain answer is no.
Following his failure to obtain an important prophecy at the end of Order of the Phoenix, Lucius is sent to Azkaban for a while until Voldemort breaks him out, although he doesn't play much of a role in the series going forward.
Of all of the Death Eaters that appear in Harry Potter, there's no doubt that Bellatrix is the most evil. In addition to the fact that she was selflessly devoted to Voldemort and his mission (in fact, she was obsessed with him), she also showed that there was no depth of cruelty or malice to which she would not sink.
In the movie, yes, Lucius Malfoy did start to say the incantation for the Killing Curse before he got stopped by Dobby. However, Jason Isaacs, the actor playing him, stated in an interview that he just said the first spell that came into his head, which happened to be Avada Kedavra.
Lucius and Draco's crimes were forgiven due to their abandonment of Voldemort and his cause and Narcissa's lie to the Dark Lord that saved Harry Potter's life in the Forbidden Forest in the Battle of Hogwarts. None of them served time in Azkaban.
Lucius knew he had failed to obtain the Prophecy at the Department of Secrets. He was aware of how Voldemort treated those who failed him.
Narcissa was taught the philosophy of blood purity from a young age and grew up prejudiced in favor of pure-bloods. Thus, like her sister Bellatrix, she cut off contact with her sister Andromeda after she was disowned and burned off the Black family tree for marrying Muggle-born wizard Ted Tonks.
She asked him because if Draco was still alive, she had something to fight for. She had a reason to lie to Voldemort. If Draco is alive, she needs to get into the school to see him and protect him, and helping Harry feign death was the easiest way to do that. But if Draco was already dead, she wouldn't have bothered.
Rowling commented that "The moment Draco got what he thought he wanted, to become a Death Eater, and given a mission by Lord Voldemort, as he did in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, reality finally hit him" because his dream was "so very different".
In Cursed Child – Part Two, Draco Malfoy explains to Harry that his wife, Astoria Greengrass, was sick for many years. Draco says she suffers from a “blood malediction,” which ultimately ends up killing her the summer before Scorpius's third year.
Voldemort hugged Draco as an improvisation and it wasn't planned. Even Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) was caught unaware which increased the effect. In Harry Potter style, it was like a welcome for Draco, but as Voldemort had never known love, he didn't know how to hug him very well. Thats why they had the awkward hug.
She made sure HE was safe - putting THEIR LIVES at risk to save his - before they escaped. And yet while Bellatrix tortured Hermione, Draco did nothing. Because he was a weak-willed fraction of a human being who deserves nothing but contempt.
