In the last arc of TCW Season 6, Yoda meets the ghost of Darth Bane (technically it's the women priests testing him). And Yoda knows that Bane created the rule of two, but according to the canon Star Wars timeline, the Jedi-Sith wars ended about 200ish years before Yoda was inducted into the Jedi Order.
Shadowy menace
Doing so would allow him to justify his eventual destruction of the Jedi Order. Grand Master Yoda encountered the specter of Darth Bane during the Clone Wars. During the war, in 19 BBY, Jedi Grand Master Yoda ventured to Moraband on a journey to discover the secrets of immortality.
Upon his arrival on Moraband, Yoda was confronted by illusions of Sith wraiths, as well as the specter of Darth Bane, the ancient Sith Lord who created the Rule of Two.
"Sacrifice" Episode Guide | The Clone Wars - Season 6, Episode 13. "Facing all that you fear will free you from yourself." After many grueling trials, Yoda next travels to the ancient Sith home world of Moraband, where he must face an ancient evil determined to rule the galaxy.
Yoda stomps. Darth Sidious was the end result of the rule of two system designed by Bane, a system that Bane emphasized would make each new Sith lord more powerful than the last, and even he had issues facing Yoda in direct combat. The far weaker Bane wouldn't have a chance.
This ensured that the Sith could hone their skills in secret without fear of betrayal from rival Sith factions. More cunning and devious than all but the most attuned Force-sensitive beings, Darth Bane could more than likely defeat Yoda in a battle of both strength and wit.
1 Darth Sidious
As well as being a gifted bladesman Sidious' connection to the Dark Side is extremely powerful, granting Sidious the ability to conduct force lightning.
Darth Bane essentially idolized Darth Revan, becoming significantly more powerful by learning from a mere holocron of his, a simulation of the actual Darth Revan. Revan's knowledge of the force, dueling skills, and strategic prowess dwarfed Bane's own… and that was only as Darth Revan.
He dies in a final duel against his apprentice Darth Zannah. Worried that Zannah is too weak to truly carry on his newly established Rule of Two, Bane devises an attempt to prolong his life. Zannah was not impressed, feeling that Bane was breaking his own rules…

As a miner of the Outer Rim, Darth was able to use the Force on occasion, though he had no understanding of it and his use was largely instinctive. However, after Bane received formal training, Bane became one of the most skilled students of the Sith.
In the areas of a tactical skill, light saber ability, and force power, Revan is vastly more skilled than Kylo Ren. He wins easily. He can take Revan down with his force abilities without relying on his lightsaber, but with his lightsaber, he could take down Kylo Ren in one minute tops.
