Over the last 12 months, some 55% of men say they have removed hair from their head, this is followed by the pubic region at 29%, chest at 13%, underarms at 12%, back at 9%, bottom at 6%, arms at 5%, legs at 4% and feet 2%. Just 30% of men say they have not removed hair from their body in the last year.
And while 50% trimmed, a pretty massive 35% are doing absolutely nothing, and letting their penis decoration run free. Whereas for women this is flipped around. Only 4% of women under 35, and 14% of women over 35, do no pubic hair management at all.
Almost 60% of Austrian and German men shave their pubes. This is followed closely by Belgium and The Netherlands, where over half of the men surveyed like to keep their downstairs tidy. Islanders are apparently much more conservative about body grooming. Only 10% of British and Irish men even shaving their arm pits.
Our first question gets right to the important stuff: where exactly are men mowing their lawn? I can tell you it's not their chest hair or armpits they are focusing on. An overwhelming 78 percent of men in our study admitted to shaving the area around the penis.
Male pubic hair is currently less "full bush" and more "clean-cut," which is the current trend. As a result, not all men should completely shave off their pubic hair because doing so can cause excruciating discomfort and even unpleasant skin conditions like razor burn or ingrown hairs.
The key to shaving pubes is to use short strokes with gentle pressure. You can shave in any direction that feels comfortable, but shaving “with the grain” will help to avoid excess shaving irritation. Clean the blade in water every 2-3 strokes to keep your hair from blocking the blades.
Ninety percent of women reported in a survey that they like their male partners groomed down there. Another survey of 300 women found 64 percent preferred their guys trimmed, 16 percent preferred a clean-shaven man and 20 percent found the natural look best.
Data showed that 46% of men prefer when their partners go completely bare down there. 70% of women, on the other hand, only expect a trim to keep things neat, not total removal. And while that might not surprise many people, just how adamant guys are about their preferences may be the most shocking data point.
German men, especially those between the ages of 18 and 35, prefer to have as little body hair as possible. They shave their breasts, armpits, genitals and even their legs and arms regularly.
Later in history, in Ancient Greece and Rome, it was considered uncivilized to have pubic hair, so men and women used tools to pluck the hairs individually or singed them off with fire. Other forms of hair removal included razors, sharpened stones, and even forms of depilatory cream.
A hot shower or bath is vital in the shaving process because it softens the skin and hair, allowing you to get a closer shave. It also rinses off any fresh clippings that could get in your way while you're trying to work.

With the introduction of the bikini in 1946, the stage was set for women to start trimming pubic hair as well. In the 1950s, Hugh Hefner's Playboy magazine introduced clean-shaven, scantily-clad model—sexy, lingerie-draped women who became benchmarks for the ideal look.
About 67% of women said they do it because they feel more feminine, 63% said they like to feel soft, and 62% said their partner liked it. Women who didn't shave said they opt out because of the side effects, like itching and bumps, or because their partner prefers them not to.
Pubic hair removal is common — approximately 80 percent of women ages 18 to 65 report they remove some or all of their pubic hair.
It is more hygienic not to shave it (although depilation does make pubic lice homeless). In removing their pubic hair, most women will get cuts or ingrown hairs, and some will develop inflammation of the hair follicles or hyperpigmentation.
Pubic hair plays a role in reducing friction during activities such as sexual intercourse. It also plays a role in preventing dirt and pathogens from entering the genitals. A person can safely remove their pubic hair if they wish to, but they do not need to.
Some guys only have to shave once a month. Very few guys will need to shave multiple times a week (we have a different recommendation for them in the next section). Most guys will end up shaving three to four times a month for the best results.
Trim between 2mm and 6mm lengths for neat and tidy pubic hair.
Brazilian wax: the triangle
(Yep, that means around your bum). If you want to feel totally smooth and hairless, go Brazilian.
In most ways, male and female pubic hair is all the same. Sure, you'll find differences from individual to individual, but there are no significant, overarching differences from male to female. The hair on each body is chemically identical. The reasons for growth are also the same.
