The essence of the ending remained the same: Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) in Heaven (he died on what should have been a routine monster hunt) and his brother Sam's (Jared Padalecki) life playing out in fast-forward (he died when he was old).
When Supernatural ended, the Winchester brothers found peace. After dying on the job, Dean (Jensen Ackles) got to experience Jack's heaven, which naturally involved beer, Baby, and classic rock.
Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki)
He got married, he had a son — named Dean — and when he died in his old age, he finally got to hug Dean in heaven.
Eileen Leahy - Sam's final love (Season 15)
Eileen Leahy (Shoshannah Stern) first showed up in Season 11's “Into The Mystic”, only to be killed a year later (“There's Something About Mary”).
Not only does Dean die on a routine vampire hunt, passing away slowly in his brother's arms (which coincidentally may be the best scene in the entire final season), but he's briskly whisked away into Heaven solo.
I love you so much. My baby brother.” He then makes Sam promise that it'll be OK, so Sam lays his hand over Dean's and says, “It's OK. You can go now.” “Goodbye, Sam” are Dean's final words as his hand drops and a tear rolls down his cheek.
The 2016 series revival answered the question of who Dean ended up with -- and it wasn't Rory. Therefore, he was certainly not the mysterious father of Rory's baby. Dean revealed that since his disappearance, he'd married a woman named Jenny and moved to Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Finally apologizing, Sam tells his brother, “I should've looked for you when you were in purgatory.” Sam never forgave himself for that. But Dean's forgiven him.

On multiple occasions, Dean has shown that - of all the women he has slept with - he truly loves Lisa. Before and during the first few episodes of, season 6, Dean lives with the Braedens for a full year, living an "Apple Pie" life. Dean's nickname for Lisa is "Lis'".
Dean died on the job, the way he always said he would, and Sam remained a hunter but also got to live a more domesticated life, which is the thing he always wanted.
A Lackluster Plot
Supernatural boldly chose to forego the usual TV finale format - virtually every plot thread was already tied off in the penultimate episode, leaving one final hour to focus entirely on Sam and Dean Winchester. In theory, this made sense.
"No Rest For The Wicked" (Season 3, Episode 16)
The shortest season of Supernatural brought with it one of the most graphically heartbreaking season finales. After selling his soul the previous year to save Sam, Dean's time is up, and the hellhounds have come to collect.
Dean is dead, just like he was when he left him on Supernatural. He was in the world between worlds, limbo, watching. He left heaven to find a version of his family that could get a happy ending, effectively confirming that The Winchesters takes place on a different Earth.
Sam and Dean are unable to form romantic attachments to others, and therefore their love is locked in an eternal feedback loop, referring back only to itself. They don't have anyone but each other (and their father) to love, and since their father's death, they love none but each other.
Over time, Sam realizes that he is too dangerous to be involved in hunting, and he and Dean go their separate ways.
Dean and Jack's relationship resemble that of Dean's relationship with his own father. This is further seen, as Jack is considered by many characters to effectively be Sam and Dean's son, though Mary Winchester also called Jack her son in Unfinished Business.
Dean is four years older than Sam and was always told from a young age to "watch out for Sammy". When a demon killed their mother, it was Dean who carried baby Sam out of the house.
After Veritas revealed that Sam was lying, even under her power, Sam admitted that he let Dean get turned into a vampire as he knew about the cure and that they could turn Dean back.
Thanks to costume supervisor Valerie Campbell, we know it's none other than Logan Huntzberger. The costumer supervisor for A Year in the Life (who also worked as a key set costumer on Gilmore Girls) finally answered the question that's been on fans' minds for years.
Logan Is Likely the Father of Rory Gilmore's Baby
During the events of A Year in the Life, Rory had been sleeping with Logan for a while.
Lydia met Dean Winchester, along with Castiel at a bar. She shared a conversation with the Winchester and then went to her house where the two enjoyed a night together. Unknown to Dean, Lydia was impregnated with his child and in just a couple of hours, Lydia was already nine months pregnant.
