It's recommended that salt and rinse aid be kept stocked even when you're using all-in-one tablets. However, some tablet brands will perform those functions better, requiring less salt and rinse aid refills.
With multi-benefit tablets such as Finish Quantum Ultimate and Finish All in One, rinse aid and salt functions are included. However, in very hard water areas we also recommend the use of separate Salt and Rinse aid products to protect your machine and achieve the best result.
So do you really need rinse aid? Well, no, not really. They're your dishes, do whatever the hell you want. But if your dishes are coming out of the dishwasher wet, or with food bits still stuck to them, give rinse aid a whirl.
What happens if I don't use rinse aid? Not using rinse aid decreases the drying performance of your dishwasher. It might also leave water spots on your dishes, especially if you have hard water.
Is Finish Rinsing Aid necessary to use together with the tablets ?? Its not necessary, but having used the tablets with and without, the results would appear to be slightly better with using rinse aid. Seems to give better drying and never a watermark on glasses.

If your detergent is not dissolving, you may want to check your settings and your dishwasher manual to make sure the temperature gets between 40-65°C (120-150°F). It'll need to be this hot for the tablet to dissolve. You may also want to check that the spring on the detergent dispenser door/clip is working.
Plain white vinegar makes a very inexpensive and effective rinse aid and your glasses will still come out looking like these glasses on the right. This tip is pretty simple really. Just open the rinse aid dispenser and fill it with white vinegar instead of commercial Rinse Aid.
It depends on how hard your water is: Hard water: Your dishwasher needs dishwasher salt to clean as best as possible and prevent damage from limescale buildup. Moderately soft/slightly hard: All-in-one tabs are typically enough. Soft water: It's not necessary to add dishwasher salt.
Your dishwasher may have run out of rinse aid or there may be a problem with its release into the appliance. Rinse aid disperses water from the surface of your dishes during the final rinse and helps with the drying process. It prevents water droplets from drying on your dishes and leaving water marks.
That's where rinse aids really are handy to finish off the job and make dishes sparkle. Just fill the rinse aid dispenser with a little white vinegar, or if you don't have a rinse aid dispenser just put a cup filled with vinegar upright in the bottom rack when you run the wash.
Some people put vinegar in the rinse aid compartment, but the vinegar could compromise the integrity of the compartment's gaskets. To be on the safe side, put the vinegar in a dishwasher-safe bowl on the top rack of your dishwasher. (This also helps the vinegar reach the dishes most affected by hard water marks.)
If the Rinse aid (rinse refill) indicator is lit, it means the dishwasher is low on dishwasher rinse aid and requires a refill.
As a good rule of thumb, if the tablet comes individually wrapped then yes, you should remove the plastic wrap before using. If, however, the tablet is encased in a skin of thin, transparent plastic, this should not be removed and will dissolve itself safely during the washing process.

This time, it's citric acid that does the rinse aid trick, enabling clear and rapid water run-off from your dirty dishes.
Another way to help your dishwasher stay clean and wash your dishes better is to use a salt rinse(which essentially does the same thing as a rinse-aid.) A salt aid works to reset the built-in water softener that is in every type of dishwasher.

Can you put a dishwasher tablet on the bottom of the dishwasher? Doing so won't harm your appliance. However, putting the tablet in the compartment ensures it's released at the most effective time in a programme. That's why we advise putting it in the designated compartment.
