The answer is no—shaving (or not shaving) does not impact the procedure at all so come as you are! If you prep anything, it should be everything you need for when you come back home to recover. Here's a checklist of things to have ready on the day of your procedure: Comfortable, loose clothes.
The patient needs to be at our clinic at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time for the Egg Retrieval procedure. The patient should not eat or drink anything after midnight, the night before the Egg Retrieval date. The Egg Retrieval Procedure is performed under “general anesthesia” but without intubation.
Cleansing: You will be able to bathe the morning of your egg retrieval but should avoid wearing lotion, make-up, or any jewelry to your surgery. If you choose to wash your hair, please make sure that it is dry when you arrive so that we can keep you as warm as possible while you are in surgery.
Ensure that you are taking at least eight hours of rest. Sleep is vital for your body so do not miss out on having the necessary sleep. Ensure a healthy level of fluids by in taking adequate quantity of water. The no smoking and no alcohol rule continues in this phase too.
THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR EGG RETRIEVAL
It is very important that your lower bowel is empty when the retrieval is done. If you have not been having bowel movements during the few days before retrieval, please take a laxative (e.g. Sennokot®) or a glycerine suppository.
If you purchased a special shirt for egg retrieval day, pair it with large sweatpants, yoga pants, pajama pants, or leggings. You may also consider wearing a larger maxi dress that's easy to pull off before the procedure and put back on afterward.
Staying hydrated post-egg retrieval is one of the best ways to combat issues like bloating and fatigue. In addition to water, which should always be your first choice, you can drink other beverages that are high in electrolytes.
Egg retrieval from the ovaries is a painful part of in vitro fertilization (IVF). It is, therefore, usually performed under sedation and pain relief (analgesia).

The Egg Retrieval Procedure

It's because to apply nail polish, spray perfume, apply lotion, apply powder may affect the quality of embryo. To avoid makeup on the embryo transfer day due to the chemical inside nail polish or even some chemical in various cosmetics can spread out. These substances affect embryos or gametes (both eggs and sperm).
Egg Retrieval Recovery
You're clear to return to work the following day, barring any complications. You can expect to experience some pain after egg retrieval, including bloating, mild soreness in the vaginal area, slight abdominal cramping, or some spotting, which can last a couple of days.
It is important to know that your ovaries are still enlarged immediately after the egg retrieval and that they remain enlarged for the next several weeks.
– You may walk or do other light activities that you usually do. For 2 weeks after your retrieval, do not have sexual intercourse. Take your 1st dose of doxycycline in the evening on the day of your retrieval. Take it 2 times a day for 5 days.
This complication is extremely rare, occurring in less than 0.5% of IVF or egg freezing cycles. Theoretically, certain exercises can increase the risk of ovarian torsion. Generally speaking, low-impact aerobic exercise (like walking or using an elliptical machine), lifting light weights, and gentle yoga is okay.
