Do not shave before your first appointment, you can trim the area carefully, make sure you are not cutting too short (use a comb to trim for more control). If you are not sure, leave the area and your Beauty Therapist will trim your bikini area for you prior to waxing.
Pubic hair needs to be at least the length of a grain of rice or ¼ of an inch long. Many people feel self-conscious about hair being too long before their Brazilian wax, but longer hair is grabbed by wax better. If you trim beforehand, you could cut it too short and forfeit the ability to wax.
1. Grow out your hair! It's best if your hair has grown out to a ¼ of an inch to ensure proper removal. That means no shaving in between your bikini or Brazilian wax reservations!
Can hair be too long? It can! Hair that's longer than ½ inch can make waxing more complicated as its prone to breakage when waxed off for first-timers, which means the follicle won't be removed and your results won't last as long.
Trimming your hair before waxing is one of the most critical steps in the entire process. It makes your wax treatment easier and more effective. By removing any extra hair surrounding the area to be waxed, you allow your wax application to remove all of the hair that you want removing.
For a Hollywood wax (both male and female), all pubic hair will be removed from everywhere.
Don'ts For Brazilian Wax
Apply lotion right before the waxing treatment. Trim hair too short (hair length should be 1/4-inch). Let the hair grow too long, causing an increase in the pain. Take alcohol (and other stimulants such as caffeine) prior to waxing, stimulants tighten the pores.
Because your hair doesn't go through the stages of the growth cycle all at the exact same time, the hair will grow back at different rates. After a wax, the hairs that were in the resting phase will begin growing back, and that's why you'll see hair regrowth in a matter of weeks but not as thick as before.
Dry, rough skin can cause more hair to break during waxing. Before your treatment, and between treatments, be sure to take care of your skin. Exfoliate regularly using a gentle, non-polluting exfoliant or a loofah to keep your skin smooth, and use a hydrating lotion to prevent dry skin.
This is typically because the client didn't wait long enough for ALL of the hair to grow out. You will, however, notice that after a few Brazilian Waxes your hair will start to grow in much slower and finer. Shaved hair is much thicker because it gets cut off at its thickest point.
Brazilian wax remove all hair from and around the pubic area, right from the front to the back. It will cover the inner side of the bum as well as the butt crack.
How long will the results last? After a client's first waxing, the results can last 3 to 6 weeks depending on the individual's hair re-growth rate. In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first week or two and noticeably increases in the third and fourth week.
The Results Are In: For Men, The 'Brazilian' Is Still The Favorite. Just the bare facts: it turns out that when it comes to guys' preferences for women's pubic hair, less really is more.
It is not more hygienic to shave pubic hair. Some girls decide to remove it (as a personal preference) but there are no health benefits. In fact, there are risks associated with shaving your pubic hair including: razor burn (rash), redness, itching (from hair growing back), and infection in the hair root.
Waxing significantly reduces the chance of ingrowns due to hair being removed from the root instead of chopped at the surface, as it is with shaving.
First of all, people can shave the hairs they've missed during waxing, and it won't harm the skin in any way if the client doesn't suffer from any sensitivity problems.
The short answer is yes, you can shower after a bikini wax! Bear in mind that most beauty therapists will apply a cooling, antibacterial lotion after having removed any hairs with waxing strips. This after-waxing lotion is applied directly to the treatment area post-wax.
Wear loose clothing to your appointment so you'll be comfy afterwards. For the rest of the day, you should steer clear of applying too much friction from tight-fitting clothing or exercise, lest you may wind up with even more irritation or ingrown hair in the waxed area. Good news: The redness should go away overnight.
