Between 55 and 77 ℉ This is the sweet spot for the temperature inside of your worm bin. Red wigglers not only survive, they thrive when conditions are between an ideal 55 and 77 degrees. Within this range, you can expect your worms to consume and cast off at least half of their body weight in food each day.
These temperatures are also the ideal temperatures for your worms. Which Temperatures are Dangerously Cold? Temperatures below 50° Fahrenheit (10° Celsius) will slow down worm activity. Temperatures below 40° Fahrenheit (4° Celsius) will kill your worms over an extended period.
Any temperature below an air temperature of 40 degrees could be a problem for the worms.
Though Eisenia fetida earthworms prefer temperatures between 55° F and 85°F, they can survive temperatures as high as 100°F and as low as 30°F. The closer the temperature is to the extremes, the less active the worms will be in feeding and reproducing.
Worms cannot withstand the extreme temperature of a composter placed outside during a heat wave. Worms cannot survive at temperatures above 35°C / 95°F. Put your composter in a fresh place in the shade like a cellar, a laundry room, a basement ….

Want to give your worms a treat? Add ice. Place plain ice on top of the bedding or buried in the center of the bin. You can cool and feed the worms all at once by freezing scraps and water together.
During winter most worms stay in their burrows, prisoners below soil frozen hard as rock and topped by ice and snow. They are coiled into a slime-coated ball and go into a sleep-like state called estivation, which is similar to hibernation for bears. (The mucous, or slime, keeps the worms from drying out.)
