Two grey ticks actually means you're not blocked! It means your message has been sent and delivered to your contact's WhatsApp client, they just haven't read it yet. If you've been blocked, you'd only see one grey tick. If you want to block someone on WhatsApp, it's pretty easy.
Any messages sent to a contact who has blocked you will always show one check mark (message sent), and never show a second check mark (message delivered).
A single grey tick means the sender has successfully sent a message. The double grey ticks mean the app has successfully delivered the message on the recipient's device. The double-blue ticks indicate the recipient has received and read the messages.
One gray tick means that the message is successfully sent but it hasn't been delivered yet. That's not your fault. It simply means that the other person has their phone turned off or that they're not using the Internet at the moment.
The two grey ticks mean that the message was successfully delivered to the recipient's device.
Two filled-in checkmarks means the message was read by the recipient.
If you see a single grey tick it means that the message you've seen has been delivered to the Whatsapp server. However, this doesn't necessarily mean it's been received on the receipt's device yet. This could mean their phone is switched off or without signal at the moment.
However, for one-on-one chat a user might disable a privacy feature called “Read Receipts” in his or her settings. This will prevent the double blue check-mark to be displayed by WhatsApp, even though the contact has read the message you sent. WhatsApp Grey ticks won't turn Blue.
In WhatsApp, a single gray check mark means that your message was sent, but hasn't been delivered to the other person yet. Two gray check marks mean that your message successfully made it to the other person's phone, but they haven't opened it yet.
In addition to being very small, the majority of ticks are black or dark brown in color. But because they are full of blood, engorged ticks will often have a silver, green-grey or even white appearance.
The second check mark appears when a message is delivered to any of the recipient's linked devices, even if their phone is off. In a group chat, the second check mark appears when all participants have received your message.
One grey tick means that the message has been successfully sent from your phone, while two grey ticks indicate that it has been delivered to the intended recipient. The message could have been delivered to their phone or any of their linked devices.
It's the same as an iPhone, but without the “delivered” notification (or lack thereof) to clue you in. “The simplest way to tell if you have been blocked by an Android user is to call,” Lavelle says. Just like with an iPhone, listen for it to be diverted to voicemail or play you a pre-recorded message.
If there was a single grey tick before you hit 'Delete for everyone' then you can rest easy: it hadn't even been delivered to their phone. If there were two grey ticks then it was delivered, but not read.
WhatsApp offers a privacy option to let users read chat texts without letting the sender know. The feature, known as read receipts, lets users turn off the 'blue-tick' (or read status): which means that they will not know if the person on the other side has read their messages or not.
If a group of people are chatting, the two blue ticks will appear when everyone in the group has read the message. Two grey check marks will show up when everyone has received the message.
If you were seeing a person's Last Seen status before but can no longer see it, it's possible they've blocked you. If the person blocked you, you also won't see updates to their contact photo, nor will you ever see a second checkmark on the messages you send to that person.
Here's how to mute someone on WhatsApp:
Step 4: Long tap the contact on Android and then click the [down arrow] at the top of the screen. Swipe to the left on iOS, or long touch the contact and select the archive option.
Your last seen, online, status updates, and any changes made to your profile photo will no longer be visible to contacts you've blocked. Messages, calls, and status updates sent by the contact won't show up on your phone and won't be delivered to you.
Will the muted person be able to see your last seen, status, and profile picture? Muting someone doesn't affect the way they see you on WhatsApp. They'd still be able to text you, see your profile picture, last seen, and status updates — unless you exclude them from the list.
Two grey ticks to the left of your message imply that your message has been received by the seller, but not yet read (see picture below).
One grey check mark means that your message has been sent from your device.
