Bellafill patients have reported results lasting upwards of 7 years or even longer, whereas the results of other fillers vary from 6 months to 3 years. Bellafill is especially good for treating marionette lines, as well as other wrinkles and scars.
What Is the Best Filler for Marionette Lines? In our experience, the most effective filler for treating the marionette line is either Juvéderm Ultra Plus® or Radiesse®, depending on the depth and configuration of the marionette lines.
BELOTERO BALANCE® is ideal for treating a number of facial age lines and folds. These include marionette lines, parentheses lines, perioral lip lines, and the harsh nasolabial folds, which begin at the corners of the nose and travel down to the corners of the mouth.
Belotero Balance and Belotero Basic, for subtle to moderate lines and lip enhancement, can last up to 6 months . Belotero Soft, for fine lines and lip enhancement, lasts up to one year. Belotero Intense, for deep and severe lines and lip volume, lasts up to one year.
While Juvederm is widely recognized as a facial filler that is more appropriate for deeper and severe lines and wrinkles on the face, Belotero is more effective as a fine line filler. In fact, researchers believe that Belotero will fill an existing void in the fine line treatment area.
Bellafill is most commonly injected into: Cheeks. Nose. Lips.
Dermal fillers may also help address sagginess caused by marionette lines, but they might inadvertently worsen these effects if too much is used. There's also concern that injecting these fillers into the cheek area can create an unnatural appearance.
Still, there are options. A full facelift would effectively tighten all of the skin around the mouth and jawline, getting rid of any marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and other wrinkles. However, facelifts require the cutting and moving of full skin layers by a plastic surgeon. Another option is laser resurfacing.
Causes of Marionette Lines
Marionette lines, also known as oral commissure lines, occur when the depressor anguli oris muscle, or DAO muscle, pulls down the corners of the mouth, causing noticeable lines and a sad expression.
Bellafill is a cosmetic dermal filler. It's used to improve the appearance of wrinkles and correct facial contours for a more youthful appearance. It's an injectable filler with a collagen base and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres.
How does the treatment work? Dermal fillers are applied to the marionette lines and the corners of the mouth. This hides the shadow between the 2 areas creating a flatter shape. This smoothens out the marionette lines and reduces the appearance of the jowls.
The best filler for the corners of the mouth really depends on your mouth and your skin. If you have thin skin, a thinner filler, such as Restylane, Restylane Silk or Volbella work best. These fillers provide lift using just a very thin fine amount and they can also fill some of the little edged lines.
On average, Bellafill Seattle lasts smooths away undereye bags and smile lines for seven years after injection. However, the results may only last five or six years depending on your skin health, overall health, age, and lifestyle.
Bellafill can last five years without requiring maintenance treatments. Sculptra can last up to two years but requires some follow-up from a physician. Bellafill also gives immediate results that tend to get better over time. If you want to learn which dermal filler is right for you, we encourage you to speak with Dr.
In the U.S., Belotero® syringes typically cost $450 to $675 each.
Choosing Between These Three Fillers
If you have small, etched lines, Belotero may be the best choice for you. If you need volume added to your lips or cheeks, Restylane may be the best solution to your aging issues.
Extremely safe and minimally invasive, Belotero Balance treatments require little aftercare. However, patients should generally avoid strenuous activity, protracted exposure to sunlight and/or heat exposure, alcoholic beverages, and aspirin/non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for roughly a day after the procedure.
Although recovery is quick, you should avoid strenuous activity, excessive sun exposure, touching or pressing the treated area, applying makeup to the treated area, and alcohol for approximately 24 hours. It's common to experience pain or swelling near the injection site for several hours.
After dermal filler injections into the marionette line area and lower face, side effects can include redness, swelling, and tenderness in the injection site. These effects usually subside within two days. Any redness and bruising can be camouflaged with make-up.
The needle should be inserted approximately 1 cm below the lip and a linear threading technique should be used to inject filler along the lower lip and into the marionette fold. Correction of marionette lines usually requires injection into the deep dermis with a malleable product.
However, this is usually mostly minor swelling from the injections, and it is completely normal and safe. In reality, fillers take up to four weeks to “settle,” according to Healthline.
