During this season (1999–2000), Buffy and Angel appear in each other's shows (the Buffy episode "Pangs" and the Angel episode "I Will Remember You"), but are forced to accept that nothing has changed and they still can not or should not be together.
In both episodes; Darla, Angel, Drusilla, and Spike make flashback appearances. The Master, who acted as a villain in Buffy season 1, also makes an appearance in the flashback scenes of "Darla." In the Angel episode "Redefinition," Angel sets Drusilla and a recently sired Darla on fire.
The character of Angel is one of five characters to appear in both the series premiere and the series finale. Even though he leaves at the end of the third season, he appears in several later episodes: Pangs & The Yoko Factor in S4, Forever in S5, and End of Days & Chosen in S7.
