Castiel and Daphne Allen
For reasons unclear, Castiel had no memory of who he was. Daphne took this encounter as a word from God and took care of Castiel, now named "Emmanuel", and soon married him.
While trying to lock Lucifer in an alternate reality, Castiel was killed once more by the Fallen archangel. Following his death, Castiel was then sent to The Empty, where all angels and demons go when they die, to sleep for eternity.
Supernatural season 15 controversially saw Castiel declare his love for Dean Winchester before dying.
Fans get some cute moments between them when Dean drops Cas for his date and gives him some tips. At the end of the season, Cas again has to choose between heaven (this time an angel army) and Dean, and to no one's surprise, he chooses Dean.
I love you... Goodbye, Dean." In other words, he confirms that he was always romantically in love with Dean. However, since the scene aired fans have debated as to whether Castiel's speech was meant to be interpreted romantically or not. Now, Misha has confirmed that it was.
While Dean does not reciprocate this declaration of love in the American version of the episode, a Spanish dub has Dean respond, "Yo a ti, Cas," or "And I you, Cas." At the time, no one from the series or The CW had responded, and some fans saw this as another example of LGBTQ+ content being censored on the series.
Supernatural: Former angel Castiel (Misha Collins) had a very human first on the CW hit drama: He lost his virginity to April (Shannon Lucio)! Alas, it turns out she was a reaper and stabs Cas in the chest, so yeah, no cuddling for those two.

A bit of background (spoilers ahead): In Supernatural Season 15, Episode 18, titled "Despair," Cas sacrificed himself to save Dean, ending his final monologue by saying "I love you." To which Dean replies, "don't do this, Cas." Or, at least, that is what he said in the English-language version of the scene.
Dean Was Castiel's Supernatural Mission
The most obvious reason why Castiel would gravitate more towards Dean than Sam is because the elder Winchester brother was his mission and his reason for coming to Earth.
This is probably the most popular and well-known theory in the show's history. Castiel's true happiness is Dean loving him romantically. Castiel knows he “can't have” this, because he believes that his love is unrequited and that Dean is heterosexual.
Two years into Dean and Castiel's relationship, Cas finds he is pregnant. Afraid that Dean will not love him anymore, he seeks help from Gabriel.
The Destiel Wedding was a phenomenon in the Supernatural fandom, regarding the marriage of Dean Winchester and Castiel.
Amelia Novak was the wife of Jimmy Novak, Castiel's human vessel. She appeared twice on Supernatural: in Season Four's "The Rapture" and in Season Ten's "Angel Heart." Amelia turned villainous when she was possessed in "The Rapture".
Since they were polar opposites in their species, they were enemies and sometimes frenemies before eventually becoming allies. Due to the events in Season 7, Castiel began to have a connection with Meg and developed feelings for her.
Dean appears visibly saddened by Castiel's lack of faith in him. Castiel later returns in Two Minutes to Midnight and apologizes to Dean for not having more faith in him. Dean forgives Cass, and they reconcile.
Claire finally forgives Castiel for his role in her father's death, hugging him goodbye and asking Dean to look after him. She also keeps a stuffed animal Castiel got her for her 18th birthday.
Dean appeared less frequently on Gilmore Girls starting in Season 4, as he eventually married Lindsay. Rory didn't react well to the marriage, and at the end of the season, Dean cheated on his wife with Rory, which resulted in Rory losing her virginity.
Dean invites Rory and her mother to his wedding, but after some intervention from Luke (who heard Dean confess his remaining feelings for Rory the night before whilst he was drunk), the two decide to not attend. Dean marries Lindsay in Season 4.
In Supernatural's series finale, Dean Winchester died on a hunting job, but his soul eventually ended in Heaven. Some fans were happy to see a proper conclusion for Dean Winchester's story, while others argued that he deserved better.
