If nasolabial folds have formed due to sagging of the cheeks then adding volume to the cheek area with dermal filler can lift the cheeks and soften the nasolabial folds. This is normally a better option in patients aged 40 and over.
Placing injectable fillers in the cheeks is very effective at improving the fullness of the cheeks, particularly in patients who feel that they have “lost” their cheekbones with aging or weight loss. But it doesn't actually fill in the nasolabial folds.
For qualified candidates, we have found JUVÉDERM® to be the top filler for nasolabial fold reduction at our med spa. Composed of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid (HA), JUVÉDERM® works to smooth the appearance of moderate to deep laugh lines through a subtle volumizing effect.
Cheek fillers can be a very effective solution to smile lines for a number of reasons, including: Adding volume – fine lines and wrinkles caused by smiling and facial movements can often be resolved simply by replacing the lost skin volume and elasticity.
“Proper placement of mid-face and lower face filler should not significantly affect the smile,” he shares. With that said, “if an overly firm filler is used or if the region is overfilled, an unnatural appearance can result as the lips push against stiff surrounding tissues,” he adds.
Treating with 1ml at a time is certainly appropriate for some areas, such as volumising lips or having smaller tweakments into other areas of the face. Sometimes, however, more than 1ml may be required – in the cheeks, for example – as 1ml may not make a discernible difference.
Square: Square shape faces will tend to have a prominent square like a jawline that is equivalent in width to their forehead. A great treatment for this face shape is cheek filler. Because your face is already quite structured, adding gorgeous cheekbones will make you turn heads!
Facial fillers are very good at dealing with deep wrinkles such as marionette lines. They gently plump out the wrinkles, resulting in a smoother appearance. Marionette lines filler can also be used to add volume to your cheeks, replacing the diminishing fat pads in that area.
For most people, treatment with 1 syringe in 1 specific area will be a subtle enhancement, which can be great for younger patients looking to maintain their appearance or those who do not want to see a lot of change.
Nasolabial folds
If it's something that bothers you, dermal filler can be used to treat the area, and, typically, a practitioner will use anywhere from 0.5ml to 2ml filler per side, depending on the individual and how deep the lines are.
For flattened cheeks, or if you've lost a lot of volume due to age, this area can require a considerable amount of filler. Many patients need 1cc to 3ccs per side to get the desired results.
Dermal fillers can be used to restore mid-face (cheek) volume and sculpt the jawline, in order to reduce the appearance of sagging jowls. The procedure is not painful, does not require any significant down-time and is excellent at lifting and sculpting the skin, where volume needs to be replaced.
“Nasolabial folds can be treated either by directly filling into the fold or by filling the cheek to lift the fold,” Dr. Rabach shares. “It depends on the individual anatomy which will be more natural and effective.”
Dermal fillers cause swelling and bruising because the injection process causes minor trauma to the area. Swelling is just the body's natural response to this trauma as the area heals. It is normal to experience some swelling after dermal fillers, but the amount can vary from person to person.
Exercises for nasolabial folds include: Puckering the lips in an upward motion, as if kissing the ceiling. Hold for 15 seconds and repeat 4–5 times. Puckering the lips into a pouting motion, then pulling the corners of the mouth out.
How long does Nasolabial Filler take to settle? The final result is seen after 2- 3 weeks.
Cheek fillers will restore volume to the correct area of the cheek, leading to optimal light reflection and the appearance of a slimmer, more oval face. Neuromodulators can be used to decrease the size of the masseter muscles, reducing the squareness of the jaw and creating a slimmer face.
Swelling is completely normal after your procedure, so don't freak out if your cheeks look "bigger" or more lifted than you intended. Swelling can distort the shape, so give yourself about five days for the volume to settle before you assess your filler.
The Results Improve Over Time
Because these injections stimulate your body's production of collagen and elastin, the final results of treatment won't be seen for several weeks. Even as the hyaluronic acid is processed by your body, healthy collagen and elastin grow at a more significant rate.
Cheek highlights in a younger patient – often only 1ml. In reality many of my patients looking for improvement of a specific area only need about 1-2ml on average. Most people are surprised at the difference just one syringe of filler can make to a problem area.
Cheek fillers can change the shape of your jaw
By increasing the volume of the cheeks, the skin can reset to it's original position, and smooth or sharpen your jawline.
Cheeks. When doing filler injections for the cheeks, we typically recommend 2-6 syringes. Weight loss and illness can also negatively impact the fat pads in the cheeks, causing patients to need more filler to restore them to a youthful appearance.
Dermal filler will not cause the skin to stretch and sag, once the filler naturally breaks down. The only case where this would happen is if the face were to be grossly overfilled with extreme amounts of dermal fillers, which is something we most certainly do not do at Cityskin.
