Swelling typically occurs within 24 to 72 hours after dermal fillers. It will subside on its own after this period. On rare occasions, swelling can last from 1 to 4 weeks.
Dermal fillers cause swelling and bruising because the injection process causes minor trauma to the area. Swelling is just the body's natural response to this trauma as the area heals. It is normal to experience some swelling after dermal fillers, but the amount can vary from person to person.
This filler works naturally, much like the hyaluronic acid your body already produces. Because it works this way, it takes two to three weeks to fully settle into your skin. This means that while you'll see an immediate improvement, you won't see your final results right away.
Cool compresses are the go to for reducing swelling after facial injections, too. After your injection, you should intermittently use cold compresses at your injection site to reduce any swelling that naturally appears. We will give you an ice pack to apply at your appointment.
Swelling is completely normal after your procedure, so don't freak out if your cheeks look "bigger" or more lifted than you intended. Swelling can distort the shape, so give yourself about five days for the volume to settle before you assess your filler.
Treating with 1ml at a time is certainly appropriate for some areas, such as volumising lips or having smaller tweakments into other areas of the face. Sometimes, however, more than 1ml may be required – in the cheeks, for example – as 1ml may not make a discernible difference.
So how long does cheek filler take to settle in the skin? It takes 14 days at most for cheek filler injections to settle. Even better, a dermal filler procedure is low-risk and has no downtime.
How long does cheek filler swelling last? Swelling typically occurs within 24 to 72 hours after dermal fillers. It will subside on its own after this period. On rare occasions, swelling can last from 1 to 4 weeks.
It's most apparent 24 to 72 hours after treatment before starting to subside gradually. Very occasionally, swelling can last from several days to four weeks.
In most cases, when the filler wears off, the face will return to its normal appearance. That means if you got the filler to eliminate wrinkles, they would reappear; the areas that experience volume loss will lose that volume again.
Fortunately, dermal fillers work very quickly, and you won't have to wait twelve months to see the full benefits of your injections. That said, these injectable treatments take some time to integrate into your tissues, and it's normal for your dermal filler to take up to two weeks to fully settle into your face.
Cheek fillers are one that can be somewhat firm, but not hard. Patients often ask before or after their injections, “Will cheek filler soften?” The answer is almost always yes.
Dermal fillers are also used to relieve a look of tiredness outside of the direct eye area. They are particularly effective for “plumping” the cheek area to get rid of the drawn look that often makes people look unwell.
Lumpiness is very common to feel in your skin in the days after injection of dermal filler into the face, including the upper lip body and the cheeks and the chin area and along wrinkles and folds when injected to lift these. It will usually resolve within a couple of weeks.
Similar to lip filler swelling stage, as well as other dermal filler treatment procedures, swelling from cheek filler injection treatment is expected to reach its peak within 24 to 72 hours following the treatment session. From then on, swelling is expected to subside gradually and improvements will be visible.
Lumpiness is fairly normal after dermal fillers. Most often this is due to swelling immediately after a treatment. This should resolve within a week but rarely can take several weeks to fully resolve.
These include redness, bruising and tenderness at the injection sites. Discomfort or tenderness lasts only a few days and can generally be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen. Hypersensitivity and numbness are also common for the first few days after treatment.
Dermal fillers can be used to restore mid-face (cheek) volume and sculpt the jawline, in order to reduce the appearance of sagging jowls. The procedure is not painful, does not require any significant down-time and is excellent at lifting and sculpting the skin, where volume needs to be replaced.
A bad cheek filler injection may cause persistent swelling or puffiness in the treated area. Individuals may also experience having a pillow face or sunset eyes which can result from overfilling the cheeks. It may also cause allergic reaction symptoms, facial asymmetry, infection, and skin discoloration.
“Proper placement of mid-face and lower face filler should not significantly affect the smile,” he shares. With that said, “if an overly firm filler is used or if the region is overfilled, an unnatural appearance can result as the lips push against stiff surrounding tissues,” he adds.
This happens when the filler was injected too superficially. Patient may take notice to the uneven appearance several weeks post treatment or 3+ months post treatment when the body starts to slowly metabolize the filler. Additional areas that can be “botched” are cheekbones, chin, marionette lines, etc.
Avoid itching, or picking around the injection site. Avoid applying intense heat to the treated area, that includes hot tubs, saunas, sunbathing or tanning. Don't drink alcohol the day of treatment, and try to avoid it for 2 days after. Avoid exercising for 2 days or until swelling subsides.
Can I Sleep On My Side After I Get Fillers? Try to sleep on your back for 24-48 hours after filler injections. After that, you can safely sleep on your side without worrying that the filler will move with gravity.
To answer simply, no, dermal fillers will not make you look unnatural. If done by a professional, dermal fillers can accentuate your features rather than attempting to create a new look.
Cheeks usually range from 1-3cc per side (yes this means you could need up to a total of 6cc just to lift your flattened cheeks). If you are looking for a total Mid Face Liquid Lift with full correction, you can expect to need a minimum of 4cc of filler.
