Deleting messages changes only your own Messages conversations, not those of your recipients. Tip: Use Undo Send to retract a message you sent accidentally.
Deleting a message on Android will delete the message for the other person.
But can a text or other digital messages ever truly be erased from existence? People delete text messages and other electronic messages for many reasons: to free up room on their device; to break contact after a sour conversation; and, from time to time, to wipe out a conversation, for one reason or another.
Clearing or deleting your messages on your devices doesn't mean the data is permanently gone, it's just been filed away differently.
Tap the triple-dot menu icon, visible in the upper-right corner of the messages screen. Select the trash bin icon. Choose the conversation you want to recover and select “Restore.”
You can restore messages you deleted for up to 30 days. In the Messages conversation list, do one of the following: Tap Edit in the top-left corner, then tap Show Recently Deleted. Tap Filters in the top-left corner, then tap Recently Deleted.
You can only recover messages and conversations that you deleted within the last 30 to 40 days. If you delete a message before you update to iOS 16, iPadOS 16, or later, you can't recover that message.
Keeping Your Data Secure
So, can police recover deleted pictures, texts, and files from a phone? The answer is yes—by using special tools, they can find data that hasn't been overwritten yet. And these days, encryption isn't quite the silver bullet solution it once was.
Every Android phone has Google applications, including the Messages app. The Messages app provides users with sent and received message history. Once you open the app, you will see the list of individual contacts that have sent you a text or that you have sent a text.
Many people want to the answer. In fact, all text messages are saved on Android phones by default. Therefore, if you only have a SIM card, you cannot see the text messages saved on the phone. If you want to save them on the SIM card or SD card, you have to manually move them to the SIM card one by one yourself.
Some phone companies also keep records of sent text messages. They sit on the company's server for anywhere from three days to three months, depending on the company's policy. Verizon holds texts for up to five days and Virgin Mobile keeps them for 90 days.
You can delete your copy of messages you've sent or received from your phone. This has no impact on your recipients' chats. Your recipients will still see the messages in their chat screen.
It will get deleted from all your devices only. Anyone in a group iMessage can add or remove someone from the conversation. You can remove a person from a group iMessage that has at least three other people.
Formal discovery requires a party to disclose anything asked by the other party which is relevant and within the control of the party. This includes text messages (unless they were deleted). Failure to answer discovery may result in the finding of contempt against the spouse.
Also, carriers do not give direct access to deleted text messages. Instead, they give you access to their backup software to get deleted SMS. In most cases, you must get a court order before you can get the text message.
Unlike the iPhone, Android does not allow you to track your kids' text messages by merely playing with the settings. However, installing parental control apps like mSpy on a child's phone also works well. You will track not only their texts but also the location and all Internet activities.
Our ability to disclose Snapchat account records is generally governed by the Stored Communications Act, 18 U.S.C. § 2701, et seq. The SCA mandates that we disclose certain Snapchat account records only in response to specific types of legal process, including subpoenas, court orders, and search warrants.
When you delete email messages (and empty your “Trash” folder), it may seem like there's no way to get that data back, but that isn't entirely true. The good news here is that for the most part, hackers can't access emails that are deleted permanently from the Trash folder.
To restore from a Google backup, go to Settings > System > Backup and Restore > Restore. Select the backup you want to restore from and then follow the on-screen instructions. If all of the above options failed for you, then you can use reliable data recovery software to recover permanently deleted photos and videos.

Delete a Message Thread
Here's how: Long-press the message thread you'd like to remove. It will highlight with a checkmark. Tap on the trash can icon at the bottom and confirm.
With iOS 16, you can recover all text messages within one month of deletion. You can do this by navigating to Messages > Edit or Filters > Show Recently Deleted. From there, you will see a list of any deleted messages that are available to recover. You can recover all messages or just certain ones that you select.
