Most of the items that will set off the alarm are metal drink containers, umbrellas, or glasses cases with magnets! Disney security recommends that you have those items out of your bag and hold them out in front of you. This allows the Disney security guards to easily tell what sets off the alarm.
The visible security measures at our theme parks and Resort hotels include the presence of uniformed police officers, using specially trained hazard detection canines to help patrol, bag checks at our theme park entrances and security kiosks at our Resort hotels.
The introduction of contactless security scanners in 2020 made getting into the parks so much easier and faster. Guests no longer have to wait in a long line to have their bags searched. The scanners allow for a steady flow of guests.

Walt Disney World

Empty your pockets of metal items before walking through the metal detector. Celebration pins will set it off, so you will want to take those off. Large belt buckles can also be a problem. If you pass through and the alarm does sound, you'll be asked to check your pockets or remove your belt and try again.
The finger scanning process is really there to help prevent ticket fraud which is why you'll need to do it each time you enter the theme park. Typing it all out makes it seem like a drawn-out process but really it takes 10 to 15 seconds per person at most.

Stainless steel has low magnetic permeability, which means it does not produce a signal strong enough to be detected. Other items that metal detectors won't be able to locate include: Gemstones. Paper.
