Since God is entirely good and is Love itself, this Science explains, pain does not come from God. Man, who is made in God's likeness, must be completely spiritual, pure, and beloved of God. Certainly Christ Jesus' ministry illustrates clearly that God does not want us to suffer.
Pain is nothing that most of us would count as a blessing. But his fifty-year career working with leprosy patients in India and the U.S. convinced Dr. Paul Brand that pain is one of God's great gifts to us. As an indicator that tells us something is wrong, pain has a value that becomes clearest in its absence.
God has used our pain to strengthen us and encourage others to trust God and believe that he is working despite what we see.
Pain is not only a necessity but also a blessing, because it warns us, corrects us, guides us, and brings us to Jesus. Pain can be a blessing in many different ways, and the first is as a warning system.
Romans 5:3-5
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
When we are suffering, God is right beside us. Nothing can separate us from His love. He wants to show us His love through His church, and give us a purpose through His Word!
He takes everything you've ever done wrong—the guilt, the regrets, the shame, the hurts—and He replaces your bad memories. God sees you without a single fault because of what Christ's love has done for you. That's the good news. You need to replace your bad memories with God's truth.
Pain Reveals Us
Many people don't know what they are capable of until they face their pain. It is only what we face that we can phase out. Pain gives us the platform to express abilities that have been long subdued in us. Some people just go through life, but mastering your pain makes you grow through life.
“Bless those who persecute you. Don't curse them; pray that God will bless them” (Romans 12:14, NLT).
Nagato killed Hanzō and all the people related to him to make a statement. His fellow villagers saw these actions and considered him to be a god. He took control of the Amegakure village, and in doing, so he literally became a god to his people.
God Uses Our Failures To Reveal Our Sin And Change Our Futures: God can use our brokenness and our failed experiences to reveal our sin and change the course of our lives forever. In our brokenness, it is safe to say that we need Jesus. But in our sinful state, it is often impossible for us to admit this.
The five Kleshas are Avidya (ignorance), Asmita (egoism or I-am-ness), Raga (attachment), Dvesha (repulsion and aversion), and Abhinivesha (fear of death and the will to live).
And perhaps more than just a necessity, sadness may be one of the greatest gifts for which we thank God in the life to come. For in our sadness—in our suffering—we can experience the joy of knowing God's unending mercy and love for us.
Just as physical pain can indicate damage and motivate us to seek help, spiritual pain can do the same by indicating damage to our spirits. That can then humble us enough to seek out help from priesthood leaders. Pain can also help us connect with others.
“Dear Lord, search my heart. Reveal to me any remaining burs of hurt where I have attempted to forgive apart from You. I pray You would cover these hurts in Your healing grace, and through Your strength, empower me to forgive others as wholly and completely as You first forgave me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.”
In 1 Corinthians 12:26 it says, “If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.” The connection between people as members of the Body of Christ should be like the connection of a human body.
Matthew 5:40-43
“But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.” The Good News: Show kindness even to those who have harmed you.
God never allows pain without a purpose in the lives of His children. He never allows Satan, nor circumstances, nor any ill-intending person to afflict us unless He uses that affliction for our good.
Congenital insensitivity to pain is a rare disorder, first described in 1932 by Dearborn as Congenital pure analgesia. Congenital insensitivity to pain and anhydrosis (CIPA) is a very rare and extremely dangerous condition. People with CIPA cannot feel pain [1].
You know exactly why I have been ill for so long. I come to You now asking that You would work a full recovery in my body - whatever is causing this persistent problem. I pray that You would, in Your mercy, give me back the health and strength I need. Guide me along the path that You have planned for me.
Be near me in my time of weakness and pain; sustain me by your grace, that my strength and courage may not fail; heal me according to your will; and help me always to believe that what happens to me here is of little account if you hold me in eternal life, my Lord and my God. Amen.
Through prayer we release control of our pain to a higher power, and in doing so we relieve ourselves of the burden of pain and the stress it causes. The result is more positive feelings and an improved sense of contentment.
