Halal food is that which adheres to Islamic law, as defined in the Koran. The Islamic form of slaughtering animals or poultry, dhabiha, involves killing through a cut to the jugular vein, carotid artery and windpipe. Animals must be alive and healthy at the time of slaughter and all blood is drained from the carcass.
There is a scientific reason too for the choice of Halal meat by Muslims. Animal's blood contains enzymes, harmful microorganisms & toxins. In Halal, the blood is drained out completely as the animal is still not dead, thus preventing blood clotting in the veins.
- The animal must be allowed to bleed completely out. Blood is not halal.

Given how many animals are stunned the wrong way, leaving them conscious through the worst moments of their lives, it's safe to say that thousands upon thousands do feel pain, not only before the slaughter but during it. It helps that little lambs often don't scream while being slaughtered.
Allah s.w.t says in the Qur'an, Surah Al-Ma'ida (5:3): " Forbidden to you (for food) are : dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine , and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah". This clearly insists that blood is prohibited to be consumed by the Muslim as it is considered to be filthy and harmful.

The myth is now debunked. The red liquid inside a red meat isn't blood. You can now enjoy a delicious rare or medium rare steak without being disgusted by "blood".
The red you see in this meat is actually not blood, but mostly fat, water, and myoglobin. This is is a protein that causes the red coloring in meat. Even when served rare, a quality cut of meat that has been properly cleaned and drained should have hardly any blood in it.
Ithm is also associated with what is considered the worst sin of all, shirk. Shirk signifies associating partners with God. The Quran states that: He who associates with God has surely forged a great sin (ithm).
In most Islamic schools of thought, donating blood does not negatively affect the integrity of your fast. In fact, donating blood is seen as a form of sadaqah (voluntary charity), which reaps significant religious rewards — even more so in this holy month.
The Jewish concern for rightly handling blood originates in Genesis 9:4–6. There God first allowed Noah and his descendants to eat animal flesh, while still forbidding them to eat blood, highlighting the fact that the animal's blood is its life.
