Freydis is eager to hold her child and then an overjoyed Ivar holds his son, only to see the child has been born with a deformity. Freydis says Baldur's deformity is a true sign of the Gods favor as she told him when they first met.
Ivar remains a local king in England for a long time after, ruling from York but having no children to succeed him, 'because of the way he was: with no lust or love' (4).
In the series, Ivar is romantically linked to Freydis (Alicia Agneson) and Princess Katia. In season five Freydis gave birth to her first child, Baldur, with Ivar being officially recognised as his father.
In Vikings season 5, episode 20, "Ragnarok," Freydis confirms for herself that Ivar is responsible for Baldur's death. Ivar then strangles Freydis after she confesses to her husband that she had betrayed him to Bjorn and Hvitserk.
It's soon revealed that Freydís is pregnant with Harald's son, and she gives birth to him in "Birth and Rebirth," which means her former lover is often top of mind as she battles to free herself and her son from the grips of Lord Harekr (Bradley James) in Jombsborg.
As revealed in episode one of the new season, Freydis is pregnant with Harald's child aka a potential heir to the throne of Norway. And (spoiler alert!) in episode five she gives birth to a son whom she names Harald.
The illegitimate daughter of Eirik the Red, Freydis was married to Thorvard, owner of Gardar (present-day Igaliko), one of the richest estates in Greenland. Freydis and Thorvard led the fourth expedition to Vinland in companionship with two Icelandic traders, Helgi and Finnbogi.
Harald Sigurdsson
Harald realizes that he loves Freydis and declares his love to her. He tells her he will even give up his dream of ruling Norway to be with her. Despite loving each other, they separate. Freydis says that while Harald is a good man, they are on different paths now.
The Swedish star has most certainly had an interesting journey throughout the show, too. Joining in the fifth season as Freydis, the wife of Ivar (Alex Høgh) she was unceremoniously killed before making her grand return in season six…as a completely different character, the Russian princess Katya.
Katia was introduced in the first half of season six as a Russian princess who was married to Prince Oleg. She met Ivar when he joined Oleg's court, and he immediately recognised her as being his ex-partner, Freydis.
In Vikings, Ivar is portrayed as the son of Ragnar and Aslaug and a younger half-brother to Björn Ironside. He first appeared in season 2 as a baby, and later was played by James Quinn Markey and Alex Høgh Andersen.
Ivar shows his brothers that he can now stand and walk on his own feet with the help of new leg braces and a crutch.
According to medieval sources, Ragnar Lothbrok was a 9th-century Danish Viking king and warrior known for his exploits, for his death in a snake pit at the hands of Aella of Northumbria, and for being the father of Halfdan, Ivar the Boneless, and Hubba, who led an invasion of East Anglia in 865.
Catherine of Sweden (Swedish: Katarina Ingesdotter; fl. 1110) was a Swedish princess who married the Danish prince Bjørn Haraldsen Ironside.
He is a norse-gael viking warlord and Uhtred's son-in-law, through marriage to Stiorra. He is the great-grandson of Ivar the Boneless and the great-nephew to Ubba and Halfdan.
Ivar The Boneless
Ivar had seen Odin when he appeared to Ragnar's sons. But this experience did not humble him. After believing that he has impregnated his wife through supernatural means, he claimed to be a god.
Up first: Our ferocious Greenlanders, Leif Eriksson and Freydís Eiríksdóttir, are taken straight from the pages of history. These two warriors were the children of Erik the Red, who founded the first European settlement in Greenland.
Yes, Freydís was a strong Viking warrior, and the sister of Leif Erickson, children of Erik the Red (who was the founder of the first European installment on Greenland). That much remains similar to the storyline used in the show.
Vikings: Ivar talks to Princess Katya in tense scene
Sadly, she was killed at the end of the series by her husband Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen). Agneson made an unexpected return in the final series as Katya, a woman who looks exactly like Freydis but who is she? Express.co.uk has everything you need to know.
Freydis and Harald end their relationship mutually, on what appeared to be good terms, as they both wanted to head in separate directions. Harald is still on his quest to become King of Norway, and Freydis wanted to head to Jomsborg to declare a new Uppsala.
As Freydis trains, she learns that her true title is The Last Daughter Of Uppsala. This explains her vision, as Haakon confirms she's had a vision of her own too; one person surviving a wave. Haakon originally thought it may have been her but now it seems it's actually Freydis whom the vision is referencing.
Freydis has an incredible journey over the course of Vikings: Valhalla seasons 1 and 2, firmly coming into her role as Keeper of the Faith. While season 1 taught her how to battle on her own, season 2 saw Freydis become a political and religious leader of Jomsborg as well as the resilient mother of Harald's child.
As the oldest son of Ragnar and the only surviving child of Ragnar and the famous shield-maiden Lagertha, Bjorn already has the makings of a great warrior. Both of his parents are well-known for their actions during battle, and their leadership outside it.
The warrior was at least between 35 and 45 years old when he died, and he had met with a very violent death, presumably in battle, killed by the thrust of a spear into his eye and a great slashing blow to the top of his left femur, which also removed his genitals.
Björn (whose nickname “Ironside” originated from killing several enemies in battle without hurting himself) died in Vikings season 6 after being stabbed by Ivar with a sword.
