Finding that she has been gone for thirty-three years, Mary finally believes that Dean is her son and the two embrace. As the morning came, Dean and Mary say on park bench, with tears in her eyes, Dean begins telling her about John and how he sacrificed his life for Dean and raised he and Sam to be hunters.
Dean is both overjoyed and shocked to see his mother again, while Mary is confused and initially unaware who Dean is, since she remembers him as a 4-year-old boy. Mary attacks him and Dean is forced to reveal to Mary that she has been dead for 33 years, and that he is indeed her son.
And even though, according to Supernatural lore, John didn't know Mary was a hunter, it's hard to escape that life without monsters trailing you — especially when the Campbells and Winchesters are legendary hunters.
Jack says he snapped and it was over quickly. He wishes it didn't happen. Dean is barely holding it together. He doesn't like that Jack is calling Mary's death, “the accident.” But he plays along and says they understand and they forgive Jack.
When Dean had first met Ben Dean considered the possibility that Ben might actually be his son. Lisa confirmed to Dean that Ben wasn't his son and his similarities to him was due to her 'type' that she hooked up with that Dean had fallen under.
So to put it bluntly, John Winchester is Ben's real father, making Ben actually Dean's little brother. Lisa says how she “has a type leather jacket, couple of scars, no mailing address” and she met the dude in some biker bar.
Dean tells Lisa "you knew what you signed up for". Lisa replies, "I did, but I didn't expect Sam to come back". She knew their relationship was "over the moment Sam walked in the door", and tells Dean how weird his and Sam's relationship is. With Sam, Dean can never be happy.
When Jack killed Mary Winchester, he sought to redeem himself by creating new angels but it didn't help and he was locked away by the Winchesters. Jack escaped and roamed Earth before he was confronted by the Winchesters who intended to kill him but stopped.
On Thursday's Supernatural, the Nephilim tries to run away from his problems, but there's no escaping what he's done: Yes, Jack killed Mary.
Dean, though, had no plans to forgive Sam or even hear him out. Dean decided he didn't want to stick around the brother who was being shunned by the rest of the world and abandoned Sam. Dean didn't even consider how he was the first one to break Lucifer's seals and Sam didn't hold it against him back then.
Playing Obvious Favorites With His Sons
While John did die to save Dean, it's clear that Sam is his favorite.
Before dying, John tells Dean, if he can't save Sam, he'll have to kill him, should he become evil.
It is revealed that she was killed because she interrupted the demon as he fed his blood to baby Sam. Sam learns for the first time that he was fed demon blood, and that Mary knew the demon that killed her.
Lydia met Dean Winchester, along with Castiel at a bar. She shared a conversation with the Winchester and then went to her house where the two enjoyed a night together. Unknown to Dean, Lydia was impregnated with his child and in just a couple of hours, Lydia was already nine months pregnant.
Emma was an Amazon conceived by Lydia and Dean during a one-night stand, unbeknownst to the latter. After trying to kill Dean, Sam shot her, killing her instantly.
01. Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith) Targeted by Azazel, retired hunter Mary had the distinction of being the first character to meet her maker. The Yellow-Eyed Demon pinned Mary to the ceiling of baby Sam's room, slit her stomach, and eventually set her ablaze.
After going to Heaven, Dean is impressed and proud of the changes that Jack has made. Bobby Singer calls Jack Dean's kid while they talk and Dean doesn't say anything to the contrary, suggesting that Dean ultimately forgave Jack and came to see the young Nephilim as his family again.
Dean appears visibly saddened by Castiel's lack of faith in him. Castiel later returns in Two Minutes to Midnight and apologizes to Dean for not having more faith in him. Dean forgives Cass, and they reconcile.
After a soulless Jack kills Nick for trying to resurrect Lucifer, he accidentally kills Mary in a brief fit of rage. Mary is reunited with her husband in Heaven and is now at peace in a shared Heaven with John.

Jack killed Mary by smiting, which is directed heavenly power, which is supposed to obliterate the body on a molecular level and the body is irreparably unusable except as a vessel. And as Castiel said, Mary is in perfect peace, a soul in such a state cannot be returned to its reformed body.
After death, Jack's soul was able to go to Heaven like a regular human, though his half-angel nature allowed him to sense the true nature of his Heaven and leave it.
The first season of Supernatural featured some of the best monsters and moments, but one of the most personal plot points involved the introduction of Dean's first true love, Cassie Robinson (Megalyn Echikunwoke).
At Salute to Supernatural Vancouver 2022 Jensen further reiterated that Dean did not have romantic feelings for Castiel, saying that Dean saw Castiel as a family member and losing was like losing a brother.
