Methylated spirits for removing mould can be equated with the use of commercial mould removers. However, it does not remove the mould spores that are responsible for the spread of mould. Spirit, just like all other household remedies such as vinegar, has little or no spore-killing effect.

Bleach is the most effective method for removing mold from shower grout. Method One: Make a solution of one-part bleach and four-parts water, and put it in a spray bottle. Spray the affected area and scrub with a brush after 30 minutes. Rinse with water and repeat if necessary.

Methylated Spirits Uses
Denatured alcohol can be used to disinfectant, sterilise medical equipment, as a window cleaner, and there are many more uses. Methylated spirits are also perfect for indoor or outdoor methylated heaters. It is an effective solvent in the paints, lacquers and varnish industry.
What do professionals use to clean grout? Whether you believe it or not, most professionals use a solution of white vinegar and water with a 1:1 ratio. This solution is often more effective than dedicated Ph-neutral grout cleaners.
The most common and effective homemade grout cleaner is a mixture of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap. Cream or tartar and lemon juice is the best all-natural solution for whitening. Avoid using highly-acidic solutions like vinegar because they can corrode grout.
Clean grout with a commercial grout and tile cleaner. Apply it to the dirty areas of the grout following the manufacturer's instructions. If you prefer cleaning grout with a DIY mixture, make a paste of 3/4-cup baking soda, 1/4-cup hydrogen peroxide and 1 tablespoon of mild dish soap.

But frequent use of bleach can eventually weaken the grout's structure, causing it to become brittle and deteriorate.
Remove Stains
Methylated spirits can work wonderfully for removing stubborn blemishes left due to spills. All you need to do soak a cotton ball or cloth in the solution and dab the spot until the alcohol evaporates and the stain disappears.
Never use Methylated spirits or any other type of petroleum distillate as it will degrade the floor coating and make your floor look very dull. Wipe up spills as soon as they occur with a dry cloth or paper towel.
Just like when we discussed white spirit and methylated spirits all those words ago, turpentine and white spirit can be used for the same tasks. Most people prefer using either turpentine, white spirit or methylated spirit, but the choice is yours, really. Turpentine is stronger than both of these alternatives, though.
