Fuel Additives
The best way to clean fuel injectors on a regular basis is to use a diesel fuel cleaner additive. This can be added to the fuel tank periodically to cycle through your engine. If done regularly, maybe once or twice a month, it can keep gunk and debris from building up in your fuel injection system.
Redex DPF Cleaner
It removes soot from the car's exhaust by trapping it in the filter.
You should consult the handbook for your vehicle for more specific guidance on how you should drive to initiate regeneration of the DPF and clear the warning light. Nevertheless, a general rule of thumb to follow is that you should run the engine at least 40 mph and at least 2500 rpm.
So it is advised that drivers regularly give their diesel vehicle a good 30 to 50 minute run at sustained speed on a motorway or A-road to help clear the filter.
We state one shot of Redex per tank of fuel, so this can be ratioed accordingly. Alternatively we advise 2.5ml of Redex per Litre of fuel.
Remember, though, that whilst we'd recommend adding a shot of Redex each time you fill up, the product can be added at any time – provided your vehicle is adequately fuelled.
Although most fuel injector cleaners begin working immediately, it takes time before the improvements become noticeable. Before the cleaners start working effectively, the vehicle should travel several hundred miles and burn a good portion of a full fuel tank.
