Buffy and Riley kiss for the first time and later find out each has been keeping secret identities. Riley learns that Buffy is the Slayer and she learns that he works for the Initiative.
When Riley learns that Buffy has been sleeping with Spike, he consoles her on her struggles with her life, and forgives her after she apologizes for what happened between them. The battle done, Riley leaves Sunnydale, never to return again.
Sadly, Buffy was too late to make up her mind and she saw Riley disappearing in a helicopter. Riley's final episode was the 10th in the fifth season, and it was titled Into the Woods. He had been introduced in season four as a recurring character, not becoming a regular part of the show until the episode Doomed.
Cast. "As You Were" is the fifteenth episode of the sixth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer television show and the 115th episode in the series. Written and directed by Douglas Petrie, it originally broadcast on February 26, 2002 on the UPN network.
Samantha "Sam" Finn was a demon hunter and U.S. Military agent married to Riley Finn.
Buffy recovers from the shock of Riley being married and Riley starts to catch her up on his life since he left as they watch Sam deliver quite a beating to the demon.
In the episode "I Will Remember You," Angel becomes human, much to his and Buffy's emotional and physical satisfaction.
Although more crossovers happen with other characters and Angel would return to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) never makes an appearance in Angel again.
"Carpe Noctem"/"Flooded"
A few Angel episodes later, the titular vamp is brooding in the garden, when Cordelia comes running out to tell him Buffy is alive again. Angel heads off to meet her immediately as Buffy leaves Sunnydale in Buffy's season 6 episode "Flooded" to make her way to him too.
Blucas departed the series in the middle of Season Five and believes that being part of the show for a limited time was always part of the master plan for the character. "That's kind of what I wanted out of the show, to be on it for a year or so," he says.
Victoria was Riley's creator and "lover". Victoria turned him into a vampire as a means for him to protect her from the Cullens, whom she suspected were coming for her. To earn his devotion, she lied to him, telling him that she turned him because she had fallen in love with him.
Riley Finn
Riley Finn has a horrible reputation with fans, but the soldier boy was a good boyfriend to Buffy... for a while. He treated her with respect and chivalry. Lesser men would be intimidated to date a Slayer, but Riley was captivated by Buffy's calling, loving her all the more.
As Spike prepared to sacrifice his life to close the Hellmouth, Buffy told him that she loved him, much to his disbelief. After his resurrection in Los Angeles, he delayed telling her about his continued survival, as he felt it would cheapen his sacrifice, but she found out on her own anyway.
Maggie Walsh was a psychology professor at UC Sunnydale and director of the Initiative military organization. She was also the mentor of Riley Finn and the creator of the secret project that built the bio-mechanical demonoid Adam.
Later, in Angel's perfect-day dream sequence, Angel and Cordelia consummated their relationship, but Angel called out "Buffy!" as he lost his soul, just as he did in Sunnydale years earlier.
Angel: “That I'm okay. That losing Buffy didn't kill me. That I could deal with it. In all those years, no-one ever mattered, not like she did, and now she's gone forever.”
Buffy's second death did not result in another slayer being called because of Faith—a new slayer would not be called until her death; however, Buffy's second resurrection for some reason caused an imbalance in the Slayer line.
Buffy visits her friends and tells them she was in Hell during her death and appreciates that they brought her back. However, when Buffy goes outside and finds Spike hiding in a patch of shade, she admits to him that she was actually in Heaven and was happy.
Angel/Angelus
Angel lost his soul twice: first, when he slept with Buffy Summers, and again, due to a spell.
Buffy finally reveals the truth about actually being in Heaven to everyone, albeit, after being forced to do so by Sweet. Before this, Spike is the only one to know that the Scoobies had pulled her out of Heaven with their resurrection spell, being told so in the episode "After Life."
Season nine continues, after issue five's cliffhanger revelation that the Slayer was pregnant, with Buffy deciding what to do about the unwanted pregnancy – the result of a drunken night at a party. Eventually she decides to have an abortion. "I want to do something.
She and the survivors are saved by Buffy, and the two finally make peace with one another. After a one-night stand with school principal Robin Wood (D.B. Woodside), the two begin a romantic relationship when they both survive the battle in the series finale.
The story of Buffy and Angel is that they're two destined but tragic lovers. They will never stop caring for each other, but affection does not necessarily mean that they work well together. Angel isn't just Buffy's first love, he's treated as her soulmate.
