As for ports, the 3060 Ti features three DisplayPort 1.4a connections and a single HDMI 2.1 socket, which supports 4K beyond 60Hz and 8K displays.
As a mainstream card, the RTX 3060 primarily targets 1080p and 1440p gaming. Some lighter games may also run fine at 4K, or in some cases, you could shoot for 4K at medium settings. But despite having more VRAM than even the RTX 3080, frame rates definitely take a hit at the highest resolutions.
The Pinnacle of Gaming
The NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4090 lets you play, capture, and watch in 8K HDR. That's 4X as many pixels as 4K, and 16X as many pixels as 1080p, for incredible levels of detail. Add the stunning contrast of HDR, and you have a whole new level of gaming brilliance.
Still it has not enough power for 8k gaming at maximum detail settings.
AMD's Radeon RX 6600 XT and Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3060 are both capable of running games at 4K with medium graphics settings.
The 3000 series cards are the first to include HDMI 2.1 support, allowing for 4K output at 120Hz, and the RTX 3060 is no exception.
Yes, the GeForce RTX 3060 is capable of running 4K resolution.
All of the major 8K TV makers say that their sets have HDMI 2.1 inputs capable of handling the 48Mbps bandwidth required for the highest resolution and frame-rate combinations (8K and 60 frames per second and 4K at 120 fps).
NHK has developed an 8K 4x slow-motion camera system that can record continuously at 240 FPS (Frame Per Second), by utilizing a brand new sensor. The camera was developed to broadcast ultra-smooth 8K imagery in order to enhance the viewing experience.
The 3060 delivers a cinematic 33fps at 4K, but things look a lot better at 1440p (54fps) and 1080p (68fps).
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090, 3080 and 3070 announced, can run in up to 8K 60fps.
You're still getting Ampere-flavoured benefits here though, such as an HDMI 2.1 connection, ensuring the GPU is compatible with 8K TVs – the RTX 3050 won't be able to hit those resolution heights, but it's still good to have.
The World's Most Powerful Ray Tracing GPU
NVIDIA® Quadro® RTX™ 8000, powered by the NVIDIA Turing™ architecture and the NVIDIA RTX platform, combines unparalleled performance and memory capacity to deliver the world's most powerful graphics card solution for professional workflows.
Despite having 8GB VRAM and a lower boost clock, the RTX 3060 Ti offers better performance. One reason is that the RTX 3060 has a smaller and slower memory bus than the RTX 3060 Ti. This means data exchange takes longer on the 3060, translating to lower overall memory bandwidth for the GPU.
It's mid end. What's considered a high end gpu is a gpu created for 4k gaming so gpu's like the 3080 and up. The 3060 is mostly a 1440p gaming gpu which puts it at mid end. Will the AMD RX 6000 series beat RTX Series?
3060 is a decent card for 1440p, so yeah it will do fine for 1080p as well. Always depends on what you play, what settings, what framerate you expect, etc. I know people who still use a GTX 970 for 1440p and are mostly happy with it. It is more like entry level 1440p, around 60 fps in most games.
Performance in 8K Resolution Is Terrible With No Perceptible Improvements. Even with the latest and greatest hardware, it can only realistically run games at 60-80 frames per second at 8K resolution. Sure, that frame rate is playable, but it's the bare minimum for most PC gamers.
8k is an overkill. At a distance of 8 to 9 feet from a 50″ TV (which is the most typical situation today), our eyes cannot distinguish between 2K (1080p full HD) and 4K. Even 4k is an overkill. 4k will be discernible when sitting as close as 2 feet away or even closer.
As there was approximately 2 years in between DP 1.3 and 1.4, you should expect 8k, 144Hz on a single signal cable some time after 2021. That being said, you can expect it to come at a reasonable cost in 2024. Dynamex • 6 yr.
The most commonly discussed 16K resolution is 15360 × 8640, which doubles the pixel count of 8K UHD in each dimension, for a total of four times as many pixels. This resolution has 132.7 megapixels, 16 times as many pixels as 4K resolution and 64 times as many pixels as 1080p resolution.
About PS5 8K 120FPS
“PS5 is compatible with 8K displays at launch, and after a future system software update will be able to output resolutions up to 8K when content is available, with supported software.” That is to say, the PS5 can support 8K but the utility is inaccessible at present!
Thankfully, most 8K TVs support refresh rates of up to 120Hz for 4K graphics. 8K is only supported at 60Hz even with the highest tier video connections (i.e. DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1).
The GeForce RTX 3060 has the power to dazzle you with immersive ray-traced effects in Control, Cyberpunk 2077, Fortnite, Minecraft with RTX For Windows 10, Watch Dogs: Legion, and many other titles. And of course, NVIDIA DLSS is included, too, greatly accelerating frame rates in over 40 RTX games.
Looking at some of the modern popular games people are playing today the GeForce RTX 3060 is running Back 4 Blood and delivering strong performances on 1080p Ultra, getting 93 frames per second.
We recommend those resolutions because getting games to run in 240Hz in them isn't that hard with modern graphics cards. In 1080p, even mid-range cards like an RTX 3060 can easily get it done, while an RTX 3070 can do the same for 240Hz in 1440p.
