Right after your appointment, it's crucial that you avoid strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours. This activity increases blood flow and body temperature, worsening bruising, swelling, and discomfort. The added sweat can even increase your risk for infection!
Strenuous Activity
The first is that sweating may irritate your skin after your treatment and heat in the body can cause inflammation that will interfere with the dermal filler settling. The second reason to avoid strenuous activity is that elevating your metabolism can prevent your filler from being fully absorbed.
Most dermatologists recommend waiting 24 to 48 hours after treatment before you exercise and here's why. The treatment requires the use of a tiny needle that injects the fillers under your skin. This needle, while small, still creates an opening where sweat and bacteria can enter.
The long answer is you should avoid exercise after fillers for at least 24 to 48 hours. This will help reduce bruising and swelling as well as infection risk, and you will feel better about the overall look of your treatment. Some light walking is okay, but avoid anything more intense.
So while the body naturally breaks them down over time, there is a way to speed up the process: Injections of hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase is what the body produces naturally to break down fillers, so by injecting more, it allows the lips to regain natural shape quicker, usually going down within 3-4 days.
The speed of your metabolism will greatly affect how long your treatment results last. In addition, cosmetic fillers tend to last longer in areas with less movement. Frequent movement can cause the material to break down faster and diminish the longevity of your results.
Drink plenty of water. HA based fillers such as Juvederm work by using the water naturally stored in our tissues, by drinking plenty of water after having a dermal filler treatment it helps the filler hold its chaos and last for longer.
If you're big into exercise, your fillers may metabolize faster than those with a more sedentary lifestyle. This shouldn't deter you from an active life or lip fillers though. Dermal fillers dissolve as your body metabolizes them, so patients with an increased metabolism may notice their fillers disappearing sooner.
Your results could change as a result of exercise, since too much head movement and pressure on your injection site can cause the filler to migrate and affect parts of your face that you do not want to be affected.
The filler can take several weeks to soften and settle into your skin. This means that patients won't see the ultimate results of their treatment immediately. Although individual results will vary, many people achieve the full effect within two weeks after receiving their injections.
Dermal filler doesn't 'normally', move after treatment. Immediately after treatment, in certain areas of the face, I do gently massage the area/s that were injected to help mold the product and prevent lumps. It does take about 2 weeks for the filler to settle and integrate into the tissue.
Filler can take 2 weeks to settle and this is completely normal.
Simply, heat will not melt or dissolve dermal fillers or reduce their efficacy.
Cheek filler
They are ideal for replacing volume loss, enhancing cheek volume, and can improve the appearance of the lower eyelid by volumising the upper cheek area. We recommend using as little as 1ml per session for an enhanced appearance.
Con: Potential Side Effects
Patients usually experience minor bruising for 24 hours to several days. Other symptoms include rashes, swelling, and potential infection. Over time, patients may feel the filler moving away from the desired area, or, although extremely rare, develop lumps under the skin.
Wait before applying makeup
Do not apply lipstick or any other makeup on and around your lips for 24 to 48 hours after the treatment.
The filler will start to break down and soften immediately, although depending on the location and how much needs to be dissolved, it may take up to two weeks for it to completely dissolve and settle back to natural.
Massage can encourage the filler to be broken up by the body more quickly. But in practice this still takes a long time (like weeks of daily vigorous massage) to improve the outcome. This may also spread the product over a larger area causing more problems.
Apply Ice – While it's not recommended that patients put much pressure on their injection sites, gently applying ice to the treated areas can help reduce swelling. Avoid Exercising – An increased heart rate will cause your injection sites to swell; therefore, Dr.
AVOID: Alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates (you may eat fruit), spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours after your treatment.
Hydration is crucial to getting a good result – because dehydration can detrimentally impact any dermal filler treatment, including lip injection results. So DO drink plenty of water after having treatments. Remember, dermal filler relies on drawing water to the treated cells; so stay hydrated.
This filler works naturally, much like the hyaluronic acid your body already produces. Because it works this way, it takes two to three weeks to fully settle into your skin. This means that while you'll see an immediate improvement, you won't see your final results right away.
In rare cases, facial fillers like Juvederm can migrate to another site of your face within a few days of your injections. This happens when the filler moves before it has fully bonded with your facial tissue.
