The army only retired its 1980s-generation S. 70A-9 Black Hawk fleet at the end of 2021, after the MRH 90 had begun to replace it almost a decade and a half ago.
The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has approved the sale of 40 UH-60M Black Hawk battlefield mobility helicopters to Australia for $2.79 billion.
The MRH-90 was first delivered to the Army and Navy in 2004 and hasn't yet achieved what it promised. The MRH-90 multi-role helicopter replaced the existing Black Hawk and Sea King helicopter fleets.
