In the Eternals film, it was stated that Thor knew who they were. Why does he let them help the Celestials destroy planets when Thor is supposed to be a protector? Most of the Eternals themselves didn't know their true mission until Arishem revealed it to them (except Ajak and Ikaris). Thor wouldn't know it either.
Kingo said Thor used to hang out with him when he was a kid. That means Thor knows about the existence of the Eternals.
While Thor has always been one of Marvel's strongest characters, a recent bout with the Eternals shows that even the God of Thunder can meet his match when it comes to Marvel's most secretive heroes.
In a turn of events, the Eternals are basically the parental guardians of the Norse gods. Although they weren't designated to fight Thanos, they contributed Thor to Earth's mightiest heroes, the Avengers.
Thor 4's Connection to the Eternals
Given that Gorr the God Butcher quite literally is destroying worlds and Gods on his rampage to extinct the universe of them, it is of no surprise that the film would feature Eternals too.
Thor is the better trained individual among them, but his strength varies.
While it seems safe to conclude that Thor's Asgardians are the older race, the fact that Eternals as individuals live longer means that the group perhaps feels older than the majority of Asgardians depicted in Marvel Comics.
Immortality: Like all other Olympians, Zeus is functionally immortal.
That said, if you saw Eternals when it came out, you probably don't need to watch the movie before seeing Thor 4. This isn't a super deep-cut reference. it's pretty obvious and it also won't really diminish your enjoyment of Love and Thunder if you don't catch it at all.
More crucially, it's simply not much fun. Our Call: SKIP IT. In the MCU, even the not-great movies are reasonably entertaining, and worth a watch. Eternals is the rare franchise entry that's a major misfire.
Other than the specific components they were built with, there's nothing to suggest that the Eternals are much different from Vision, thus it could be assumed that they can also lift Mjolnir. At the same time, it could be argued that Vision can wield Mjolnir because he has less conflict and a larger desire to do good.
Gilgamesh
In terms of raw physical strength, Gilgamesh (Don Lee) is easily the strongest Eternal.
Physical Strength
The abilities of the Eternals - their strength, speed, power, intelligence, experience - outmatch the Avengers' at almost every turn.
THE FIRST ETERNAL AVENGER
Technically, Gilgamesh and Sersi were the first Eternals from Earth to become members of the Avengers. But the first Eternal Avenger was none other than Eros, AKA Starfox. Starfox came to Earth in AVENGERS (1963) #232, and he immediately asked to join the roster.
But it also suggests that there is a close relationship between the Asgardians and the Eternals that stretches back for centuries. Many of the Eternals bear names, much like the Asgardians, that are similar to figures of religious or folkloric value to humanity.
The first Easter egg appears within seconds of the film beginning: the "six singularities" mentioned in the opening text are a reference to the Infinity Stones, those brightly colored McGuffins which propelled the plot of much of the last decade's worth of Marvel movies.
Thanks to a brief moment in Thor: Love and Thunder, Eternals 2 could still happen by combining it with Thor 5 for a Celestial war with the gods. A brief moment in Thor: Love and Thunder showed how Marvel Studios could combine Eternals 2 and Thor 5 into a single event movie.
Whether the Celestials will return remains to be seen, but their brief appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder hints that the Eternals' Celestials are not forgotten.
No, you don't.
Unlike the others, Zeus is not worthy to lift Mjolnir, but through a loophole, he can anyway. If Mjolnir is to enter his domain, Zeus's MCU powers should override Odin's enchantment, meaning he can hold Mjolnir. He may not be worthy, but technically Zeus is the fifth character who can lift Mjolnir in the MCU's Phase 4.
We know from Guardians of the Galaxy 2 that Celestials are god like beings. Odin seems to possess a power far beyond any other Asgardian. He was a celestial that, unlike Peter's dad, used his power to birth a race of people who each carried a bit of his power within them.
Thor wanted Zeus and the other gods to help him fight Gorr the Godbutcher (Christian Bale), who—as you can perhaps guess from his name—poses a threat to all the gods. Zeus is uninterested in helping. Thor then kills Zeus using Zeus' own thunderbolt, which (frankly) feels like a bit of an overreaction.
In the comics, Thanos and Eros are born on the Saturnian moon Titan to two Eternal parents, A'lars and Sui-San. Eros is born without the Deviant mutation, but Thanos is born with Deviant Syndrome. They're biological brothers, but they look wildly different.
Eternals Outstrip Asgardians by a Mile
They're faster and stronger than the average human, but they're not a match for the godlike powers borne by the Eternals. There aren't as many Eternals on Earth, but every one of them is a combat powerhouse in their own way.
