“My beloved pet! She wouldn't harm a flea so be nice to her!” The hen is Wario's pet chicken seen in Wario Land II. She is notable for being one of the few things that Wario expresses love for other than money.
She acts as Wario's enigmatic guide throughout the game. The cat's true form is Princess Shokora of the Golden Pyramid, who once ruled the area. The cat makes small appearances throughout the game, such as on the map screen, and within the corridors before facing an area boss.
Wario has been depicted to own several different homes. In Mario & Wario, he is originally shown residing in a manor. In Wario Land II and Wario World, he is shown residing in a castle, which he eventually acquired with his treasure-hunting wealth.
The name "Wario" is a portmanteau of "Mario" with the Japanese adjective warui (悪い) meaning "bad"; hence, a "bad Mario" (further symbolized by the "W" on his hat, an upside down "M").
Wario's physical design and personality was based on the idea that a protagonist should have an arch-rival and nemesis. Kiyotake stated that Wario's relationship to Mario was inspired by the American comic book characters Popeye and Bluto.
Garlic is Wario's favorite food. He eats cloves and cloves of it day and night, causing flatulence.
Waluigi was created during the development of the game Mario Tennis, to serve as the bitter rival to Luigi and introduced as Wario's younger brother in the American version of the game. He was created by Fumihide Aoki and is voiced by Charles Martinet.
Once it is performed, Wario flatulates, damaging nearby players. The attack gets stronger the longer players go without using it, ranging from a tiny "poot" to a massive explosion. If it is used continuously, over and over, it is very weak, but if it is not used for a long time, it becomes a large explosion.
Wario's Father was a minor character in the SMG4 series. As his name suggests, he was the father of Wario, as well as Waluigi. He mainly appears in flashbacks.
Baby Wario is the infant version of Wario, who made his first appearance in Yoshi's Island DS. He appears to be very greedy similarly to his adult counterpart, as he carries a Coin magnet. Baby Wario's special move is "magnetism", in which he pulls out a magnet which attracts coins.
In one of the final cutscenes of the game, Mona calls Wario a "greedy punk" and chases after him when he refuses to pay his employees. Mona seems to have gotten over her dismay towards Wario in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$, when her character profile states that she has a crush on him.
Wario's mother first appears in a flashback by Wario, where she and her husband berate him for being so pathetic.
Wario has broad, muscular arms, a large belly, and his excess fat overlaps the openings of his overalls; it is shown his arms and legs are pure muscle meaning the rest of his fat must be stored elsewhere.
Polterpup returns in Luigi's Mansion 3, this time as a tutorial guide. He remains as Luigi's pet and accompanies him and the others to The Last Resort.
Mona is Wario's girlfriend. He has written letters to her expressing his feelings for her. Despite her constant changing of career in the WarioWare series, she doesn't necessarily appear with any particular profession in Stupid Mario Brothers.

He is also hugely possessive and jealous of Mario's fame, and has frequently tried to steal enough wealth to make himself as beloved as Mario. While he has been rich at times (to the point of owning his own giant castle full of golden coins more than once), usually his get-rich-quick schemes seem to go wrong.
In Wario World, garlic heals Wario, and Garlic Dispensers vend heads of it to him in exchange for coins. They are also sometimes found in wooden chests.
Luigi is Mario's younger brother. He lives in his brother's shadow, and is the rival of Wario's partner Waluigi. He is also known to be a friend of Wario's.
