Victoria line opening
Her Majesty was the first reigning monarch to travel on the London Underground. The picture of The Royal visit below was widely seen in the UK and around the world.
Although it is not an everyday occurrence when the royals take to the tube, it has happened several times in the past. As well as opening the Elizabeth Line in 2022, Queen Elizabeth 11 also opened the tube link to Heathrow back in 1978.
Does the Queen have her own carriage on the royal train? Yes. She has a private 75ft long air-conditioned and heated saloon carriage. It contains a bedroom with a single bed, a sitting room, a desk, dining quarters – and it's own private bathroom featuring a full-sized bathtub.
While the Tube is running normally, some station access points are closed. On the afternoon of the funeral, there will be extensive road closures between central London and Windsor.
Westminster, St James's Park and Hyde Park Corner are all expected to be closed today (Monday, September 19), Transport for London (TfL) has said. Staff will attempt to reopen the stations from around noon, but passengers will be unable to end or start their journey at these Tube stops before then.
World leaders not invited to the Queen's funeral
Unsurprisingly, several major leaders will not be offered invitations to the funeral. A senior British government source told CNN Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Myanmar General Min Aung Hlaing would not be invited.
Cortege to travel through Perth and Kinross
The cortege will then proceed to continue along the A90 through Perth and Kinross and travel over the Friarton Bridge onto the M90.
Still, for all its modesty, the train is well kitted out to provide everything needed by a travelling Royal: lounge cars, office cars with small fitted desks, bathrooms, staff accommodation, sleeping accommodation, including a bed for the Queen, and a galley where food can be made.
If you take the train to London Victoria, you can walk to Buckingham Palace in just 10 minutes. Alternatively, take the tube to St James's Park station, on the Circle (yellow) and District (green) lines. This is the closest tube station to Buckingham Palace.

TfL toilet facilities are free to access, but some non-TfL facilities may be chargeable. Other public toilets may be available near to stations. Some facilities are inside the station's ticket gates.
The Queen has a private indoor swimming pool at Buckingham Palace, which has long been a favourite spot for the entire royal family.
The late Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were pelted with eggs during a visit to Dresden, Germany, in 1992.
A cash machine
There's reportedly a private ATM in the basement of Buckingham Palace for use only by members of the royal family. Tatler reports that you'd need to have around £1,3 million in your bank account to qualify for your own private cash machine.
“In countries where a reliable blood supply is questionable, the Queen and the Prince of Wales both travel with their own personal packs of blood following in their convoy wherever they go,” he added.
Under the original plans drawn up in the event of the Queen passing away in Scotland, her body would have been carried by train from Edinburgh to London. But this has been changed. Now the coffin will be flown by RAF aircraft to RAF Northolt on Tuesday evening.
Apparently, she heads to bed at 10.30pm each evening in order to get a good night's sleep. The bling is stunning, obviously. Regular exercise is also said to help with sleep and Kate leads an active lifestyle, often talking about how she loves to get outdoors – it's thought that she runs or walks every day.
'The Royal Train isn't equipped to carry a coffin'
The train isn't owned by the Royal Family – the locomotives are loaned by DB Cargo and work regular freight routes the rest of the time. The carriages belong to Network Rail, and haven't been modernised since the 1970s.
The coffin will be guarded around the clock. Visitors can file past the coffin 24 hours a day, but those wishing to attend should expect long lines — possibly overnight. They will also have to go through airport-style security to get in.
Legally, there does not need to be anything done in Australia to result in the change from queen to king. That happens automatically as soon as a monarch dies. When Queen Elizabeth II died, Charles immediately became king of Australia.
The pallbearers hail from the Queen's Company, the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards. 'It's their role to protect her body, both in life and in death, remaining in the Queen's Company until King Charles decides otherwise,' explained Major Adrian Weale to the PA.
The source said the full list of invitations had not yet been finalized, but that officials from three countries had been ruled out: Russia, Belarus and Myanmar. In the case of Russia and Belarus, the source said their exclusion was due to Putin's invasion of Ukraine, which Belarus has supported.
