1 Peter 5:7, NLT Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Matthew 11:28, ESV Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Philippians 4:6-7, NLT Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
Be in prayer
Take time each day to devote yourself to the Lord and the plans He has for your life. If you are giving each area of your life to God, then He will bless it and be able to work through it abundantly.
One sign that is very clear that God is telling you to move on is if the relationship is unbiblical or it is consistently causing you to sin. Sometimes we over complicate knowing the will of God for our lives. When it comes to matters clearly explained in the Bible, we do not need to wonder what God is saying.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:5-6. Surrendering and submitting to God's plan will involve releasing our control and trusting that He knows the right paths to lead us on.
Exodus 5:2-23 New International Version (NIV)
Pharaoh said, “Who is the LORD, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go.” Then they said, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us.
Confessing our feelings to God is not weakness. Instead, when we do so, we admit our need for Him and allow Him to be as honest with us as we are with Him. With that, we declare that God is greater than the control our emotions have over us. And by allowing God to be the strength in our weakness, we are glorifying God.
Focus on your breathing, or your heartbeat, or the feeling of your hands touching your chair. This can help you to stop focusing on your thoughts and be still. Give yourself grace and keep going. You'll get distracted.
Give Your Worries to God for Real Peace
Reminder, the steps outlined in Philippians 4:6 are Pray, Petition and Be Thankful. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Be still means to listen. If we want to hear what God has to say on a situation or problem, He will instruct us in our spirit in a still small voice. Reply.
Stand still. Avoid doing foolish things. Let God work out your future. The words “stand still” mean “to position yourself, to place yourself, and be ready to move forward.” The idea is, get ready to pull up the tent pegs and be ready to move. A lot of times God wants to move us forward but we don't want to move.
Deuteronomy 31:6
6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Truth is, God gave us emotions as a good gift to be appreciated and employed in every aspect of our lives. He wants us to glorify him with our feelings—in fact, we can't honor and obey him without our feelings! Far from being bad and unreliable, feelings are actually central to our loving and serving God.
At times, the voice of God has been described as that of a parent (which could seem benign, benevolent, or terrifying, depending on what kind of relationship you've had with your parents). We are also told that God speaks in a “still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12).
Reading and studying the Bible, spending time in prayer, and talking with other followers of Jesus are not just part of our to-do list. God encourages us to do these things because they help us to learn about His character and learn to recognize His voice.
8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
"Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, A Sermon Preached at Enfield, Connecticut, July 8th 1741." This was a highly influential sermon of the Great Awakening, emphasizing God's wrath upon unbelievers after death to a very real, horrific, and fiery Hell.
Ishmael (Gen. 21:7); Hannah (1 Samuel 1:15); Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20). Blind Bartimeus (Luke 18), etc., all cried to God because of the vicissitude of life and God showed them mercy. Even Jonah in the belly of the fish CRIED TO GOD and God heard him.
