Hotels and laundries have a chemical called Potassium permanganate which is a very strong oxidizer that can kill everything and also remove stains effectively. So now you know how hotels manage to keep towels white.
'Detergent with bleach helps keep white towels bright,' says Katarzyna. 'I use a mixture of bleach and water with detergent to soak the towels in first, then rinse them out. Then I do a regular wash. This process should remove any make-up stains from white towels.
The fact that white doesn't hide stains is good for the hotel because it often makes the guest more cautious. Typically, guests remain more alert while eating food or drinking to avoid leaving stains, which helps the sheets last longer. Feeling of luxury.
Dissolve 1 cup of baking soda for every 1 gallon of warm water in a bathtub or other large basin. Pre-soak your towels in the tub for 1-8 hours, depending on their level of dinginess. If you want extra whitening power, mix laundry detergent and/or oxygen bleach into the water before soaking your towels.
The eco-friendly alternative to bleaching (and actually works really well) is vinegar. Half a cup of white wine vinegar will remove stains and whitens your towels. You can always use the oxy-powders for whites as an alternative but vinegar is a lot cheaper and does the job too.

One of the most well-known secrets of the hotel industry in keeping their sheets enviably is peroxide-based detergents. Bleach is also added to the mix. While these chemicals are truly effective in preventing white linens from greying or turning yellow, they do require some level of expertise.
Use Vinegar
Adding between half a cup and a cup of white distilled vinegar to each wash will help remove stains and whiten your towels: you can add it to the fabric-softener dispenser. Diluting one part vinegar in four parts water and spraying it directly onto stains is also a way of pretreating them.
If a brand of 100% cotton towels say “Do Not Bleach” for every color, even white, it is likely a way for the towel manufacturer to save money by using the same conservative care label on all of the towels in the product line, regardless of the towel's colorfastness to either chlorine or oxygen bleach.
Towels can turn yellow over time, depending on the frequency of use. Factors such as the sauce contaminated from your hands while cooking in the kitchen, sweat from your face or skin, dead skin spilled from the skin, oil on the skin or hair play a big role in the yellowing of the towels.
"Our research has shown that fabrics break down naturally over time just from machine washing and drying, and regular bleach usage along with detergent doesn't wear down fabrics significantly more than washing with detergent by itself."
White clothes can turn yellow due to a variety of factors, such as using too much detergent and fabric softener, oxygenation, deodorant stains, washing with well water or long-term storage.
Soften towels with vinegar
The expert-recommended way to soften towels that have become scratchy is to use vinegar. 'Throw a cup of white vinegar in your next wash,' advises textiles expert and CEO of New Sega Home, Brian Delp. The towels have likely become stiff and scratchy because of the use of fabric softener.
The main reason is that they wash their towels in hot water 40-50c with commercial detergent and no fabric softener. Fabric softener can really reduce the absorbency of your towels,which leave a waxy residue on towels, for example. Also, cotton gets more absorbent with use, and hotel towels are well-used.
Whitening whites
Avoid using bleach. Boil it instead. This not a guaranteed method for removing all stains, but it can help break down and loosen some, particularly discolourations caused by deodorant residue or organic substances such as sweat, grass, or blood.
Take one gallon of water and combine one cup of baking soda to it. Add your white clothes and let them soak. Run your whites in the laundry as normal. After using baking soda, you should notice whiter, brighter, and fresh-smelling laundry.
Vinegar whitens, freshens, and softens fabrics. Add 1/2 to 1 cup of distilled white vinegar along with your regular laundry detergent. Don't worry about the vinegar scent- it will dissipate after drying. Vinegar may also be sprayed on spot stains and collar and underarm stains.
Add half a cup of white vinegar to your whites. This may be able to pull the grey or yellow hues that are staining your whites out of the fabric and help renew their original color. Alternatively, you may use a half cup of oxygen bleach to serve the same purpose.
Sheets are usually changed between guests, and sometimes state law requires it, but there's no guarantee that they will be. As for bedspreads, forget it. As countless hidden-camera investigative TV programs have confirmed, they aren't washed regularly.
Most hotels use peroxide-based laundry detergents to keep their sheets and towels bright. While these compounds are extremely successful at preventing white linens from greying or yellowing, they do necessitate some amount of knowledge. When used incorrectly, they might cause damage to your linens.

For an entire garment, make a weak solution of bleach and water and soak your items overnight. Wash as usual the next day, adding 1/2 cup vinegar to the load for extra color brightening power.
Overuse of chlorine bleach can also cause white natural fibers like cotton and linen to turn yellow. If you can detect a chlorine odor as you remove wet laundry from the washer, you are using too much bleach.
